What special?
It says 50% discounted, wouldn't that make it a special?
What special?
Hi guys, I just bought the 100GB fatpipe special....
I have a question, the package is listed as R164, I need more than 100GB's, probably closer to 500GB...
I see there is an option for additional cap, is this for adding on extra data, if i choose to add another 100GB's would that cost me R164 again? Not sure how this works....
Is the special 164 p/m for as long as you are on the contract? Also.. how easy is it to switch packages?

.Out of bundle rates charged at R10/GB

You'd need to upgrade the package, which would negate the promotional pricing. Otherwise you can add additional gigs to the package, but they're priced at R10/gig as far I can remember. You could try buying 5x 100GB promo packages, but I'm not sure if they have limits per customer![]()
I don't think you can buy 5 x the promo price, wouldn't they then send you 5 different usernames and passwords? ( stand to be corrected ). I really don't know how this works....
Yes, it would be five separate accounts. What I meant was, since the special only applies to the 100GB package, that would be the only way to purchase 500GB at a discounted price.
Not easy to switch packages, and AFAIK, the t's and c's state that it's only for july the special so it's not for life it seems.
Someone should honestly create a school for analogies, recent examples I've seen are so, so bad. Which car manufacturer markets their car as redline-able all the time? All the cars I've ever bought explicitly stated in the manual that you should limit redlining as far as possible.
Calling people that use their 100GB that they paid for "hogs" is silly. So how many of those 100GB should they use? Is it % based? Tell us your capped usage patterns so that we can ascertain this mysterious unknown magic capped data ratio.
And do you not see that it's the marketing of the product that is flawed then? Why call it a 100GB if you're not supposed to download 100GB? To mislead people? So who are the greedy ones? The users that bought a product because the marketing said it suited their needs or the company that threw ethics out the window for a sale?
Afrihost isn't messed due to abusers it's just the mtn network is crap. Not even their hosting is tops I see people moaning of 1 week downtimes that cant be the abusers fault.
Afrihost should never have left IS
Yeah, I thought about putting in a caveat - I pretty much knew that it's not a great analogy but it works for me and illustrates the point I'm trying to make (albeit crudely), so /shrugs
As far as I am concerned, pushing to 'use up' your 100 gigs is pushing the limit - see below why I think so
To answer the question above, I don't actively monitor how much I use - based on my historical usage patterns, 100 gig is about 20% more than I normally use which is why I opted for that package - i.e. I have a 100 gig capped account because I know that that is enough to meet my needs for the month - I don't have to use the 100 gig in order for me to feel that I am getting value for money - the hogs have to use it up otherwise they feel they've been 'cheated' out of their rightful allocation.
I'm not saying that everyone should use only a certain percentage - I'm saying buy what you feel will meet your needs - that said, if you happen to use less, so be it, you're still getting value for money - if you're using waaaaaaaay less, then downgrade to a cheaper, smaller cap; if you keep hitting the limit, then upgrade to a larger, more expensive cap - just don't do what all the morons did to the other ISP's over the years and push to 'use it all up' - that is what leads to a sh t ty experience for the rest of us.
I think I answered this above.
Uh oh, here comes another bad analogy - those Verimark knives, cuts through metal you say -wonder how long it's going to last if you use it for that purpose only.
The marketing is not flawed - you do indeed get 100 gigs for R160 - it's us, the existing customers who don't want the hogs to come and buy this product because the hogs will abuse it.
An aside, the gym industry uses this exact model - research shows that (very rough figures here), that only about 15% of gym members actually use it every day - if 100% of members used what they paid for 100% of the time they are entitled to do so, the gym would collapse ie. not be able to cope with demand - shock, horror - the lying, cheating bastards...
Oh wait, banks also operate on that model, if everyone with money in the bank decided to withdraw all their money (as they are entitled to) on the same day, shock, horror, bank would collapse - the regulator forces banks to always keep about 12.5% of "cash" available, because it's recognised that there is a reasonable and predictable usage pattern.
The internet guzzling hogs do not adhere to a reasonable usage pattern and therefore fck the ISP up for the rest.
So, yeah, hogs can just p i ss off to the next ISP thanks![]()
So it's OK to market it as 100GB but you can't "push" to use 100GB otherwise you're a hog but you can use 100GB if you need to but if you use all of it by "pushing" then you're a hog?
What or who determines whether a user pushed or didn't push to use his 100gigs?
Continuing to use bad analogies doesn't really address the issue. If everyone "pushed" to go to gym or withdraw their money (as they're entitled to) then those institutions would collapse, as they do from time to time. It would be downright ridiculous to then claim that those who just wanted to get what's rightfully theirs are abusers or hogs.

What backbone does Vox use?
