Vox Telecom Fatpipe

How's gaming on these accounts for LoL Eur West servers? I have been internetlessness for about a year, I tried a crap Wisp here in Amanzimtoti for a few months before I finally organised another Telkom line which will be installed on Friday.
 
Hey fellers,

I am looking at moving over to VOX soon and would like your guys' feedback on a couple of things.

1. How is streaming at the moment (Youtube, Twitch, Supersport)
2. What is gaming like (Based in Joburg and join some CPT servers as well as some local servers - BF4 and CS Go)
3. Uploading speeds (Use this for my Youtube video uploads)
4. HTTP Downloads
5. P2P Downloads (Any shaping on their capped accounts)
6. General network stability
7. Can I get my hands on a 1GB test account somehow?

My experience with 4mbps line , capped account..

1) No issues
2) I only connect to international server, but the latency is good.
3) Full upload speed
4) Full speed (depending on the site tho')
5) Only use Usenet (have not tried torrents) and it goes at full speed anytime of the day
6) good
7) IDK
 
Thanks guys, looks good. Their promotion is a very tempting thing indeed! :) I might just give it a go! Just need to get a free account to run one or 2 tests and I will sign up. Just to confirm. This is all month to month right?
 
Well I just switched over to the Vox account from AH and things are much faster and less timeouts etc. Will wait and see how it does with FTP downloads. Been having real issues with FTP and I'm hoping it was an AH issue.
 
I tried a test account about 3 months ago and it was really bad. I then tried another test account 2 days ago as they had apparently sorted out the issues from a few months ago and guess what...... It was the same .... Really bad. So, the grass isn't always greener on the other side and with this current offer, and all the AH clients jumping ship, it's going to congest their current network either way
 
You seem extremely happy on Crystal Web so why you even looking elsewhere?

As for network degradation....

Vox Telecom’s head of carrier and connectivity Shane Chorley said that, like Cybersmart, they have increased their IPC spend to take advantage of the double-capacity deal from Telkom.

To make use of this additional bandwidth, Vox Telecom may design new products or grow their customer base.

So VOX are paying an additional 15% to double their capacity.

Me too.... Until the end of this month that is, once my Axxess and WA accounts are terminated.

And I really resent having to use them until the end of the notice period....

There was a time not so long ago when all capped accounts perform like the VOX capped accounts currently perform.

The watered down rubbish ISP's are currently selling is a disgrace.

Yup, I'm just a little concerned as vox may hit congestion soon with all of these new sign ups and also remember they are selling it for cheaper than what IPC cost per gig is, Afrihost did this and look where they ended up :(

Well look, from a technical stand point I'm not going to pretend to know how their business model works but double their capacity would suggest to me that they could in effect double their client base? I may be way off cue with this assumption though.

Edit: it would be a fcking tragedy if they end up screwing up their network.
