Vox Telecom Fatpipe

I find speedtest gives me random results. I often get full speed downloads, streaming etc. when speedtest gives poor results. ( I don't test while downloading)

Agreed!!

Using a download manager works for me. Used to use Orbit (free) but lately IDM (paid) and it's brilliant!

Speedtest just shows browsing speed. The other protocols such as streaming and torrents etc. may be different.

How accurate is the daily usage tab?

I've noticed that usage is ridiculously high when using fatpipe compared to Afrihost. Downloaded a 1.2gb file and usage under bulk transfer showed 3gb. Logged onto FB for less than a minute and usage under social media was 98mb. Watched one youtube video in 360p and video usage was 150mb.

I agree with this. Few minutes on FB and usage spikes. Capped bandwidth usage is bleeding ludicrously.

My android phone Vox app and windows pc Vox app reflect different usage. Any understand the reason for difference?

For the past few days I've been experiencing higher latency between my VOX fatpipe in JHB, and my Afrihost Cloud server, also in JHB. Below are the traceroutes from me to the server, and from the server back to me. Looks like it's routing through Cape Town - what could be causing this?

First trace makes it seem like an MTN issue, but the second trace seems to disprove this? Hoping we can find the cause of this ? ... xD

Anyone else having problems with netflix?
Everything just buffers to 25% and never gets any further. Hulu working fine though.

All strong this side, I've actually swapped from my TI account to Vox tonight because I was having issues there.

The peak/off peak relates to the following:

Peak: M-F 06:00:00 - 18:00:00
Off peak, all other times

The Fatpipe zero rated time frame is mignight to 6am every day of the week. The customer portal is not updated to cater for the update to Fatpipe product. This should be done by end of month.

Just 12am-6am unfortunately. Bolt-on customers can get the whole weekend zero-rated.

Apologies if I've missed an update somewhere (I do try to keep up with this thread most days) but are weekends still zero-rated - and/or is the portal still undergoing some fixes?
Just noticed this weekend's usage counting towards both peaktime as well as zero-rated where it didn't the last month or so.

PS. Devastated to read that Cvanwie is leaving Vox... Best rep I've ever come across, giving us detailed, transparent behind the scenes feedback and updates on what's happening and how faults are being resolved.
This is how an ISP gains clients and keeps people happy.

Speeds are in the crapper - well speedtest gives me full line speed.

NNTP can only get 25% line speed?

Not enough capacity or shaping happening during midnight hours?

Been about a year on Vox,very happy so far. Just this month 1st November all my accumulative data just disappeared. About 350gig.
Phoned and were told just a "system problem". I am on fatpipe 200gig per month. Just checked data still gone.
Anybody else had this happen?

There is a system issue. Not sure how far they are with fixing it though. Maybe message Voxy with your reference number.

Mine was also gone, but I got it back :) Didn't have to do anything from my side.

There are 2 products:

Fatpipe lite + Bolt on = uncapped 6pm to 6am every day and whole weekend
Fatpipe = Zero rated data every day from 12am to 6am

If you think your account is showing incorrectly phone support. There was an issue beginning of the month and your account might not have been fixed as part of the mass fix.

I like the idea of the bolt on.

Is the main difference between fat pipe and fat pipe lite the shaping on the lite account? Thanks

I believe they are identical, Fat Pipe is a large capped account and Fat Pipe lite small capped but with added uncapped after hours, no shaping as far as I know.

Thanks for the reply. If that's the case I'll probably give it a go next month with the bolt on! As long as the performance is identical to that of the fat pipe.
Currently on the 150GB Fatpipe.

Does anyone know what the top up prices are per GB? Is it R5 a GB?
