We will never throttle you down to a lower line speed, but rather de-prioritise certain protocols - and again, this depends on what our network looks like at the time.

What is the rules regarding the use of traffic encryption as well as using downloading protocols such as http and ftp. I do from time to time vpn to complete work otherwise I use sstp for my browsing. Will I be witch hunted due to use of traffic encryption?

Don't seem to see an issue with this. The entire point of our Uncapped and AUP has a kind of "do what you like" up to your threshold :)

seeing that you can do at least 100gig a month (spaced obviously to not get rolled, 4meg) not so bad deal.

However only thing that's still bothering me is steam not being excluded from traffic. Reason is simple, if I want a game that's large I don't want to wait till downloadplus or download it at 40-50% of my line speed. Obviously expect it now at max line speed without penalties.

This is about only con that's currently stopping me from considering it along side how well is gaming traffic optimized. I really don't want the setup where I'm forced to have gaming account with WA and an Uncapped account.
 
is this uncapped stuff all going through the same pipe as the capped stuff?
 
in my ongoing attempt to my get my line running how it used to, i have purchased a 1GB unshaped for R99, where does it fit into that graph?

I am currently throttled on my 4MB uncapped account thanks to a 2.8GB download that died twice and couldnt be resumed. I let it finish seeing as though I was throttled anyway; while it was downloading (@ +- 340kB/sec) the internet was pretty much un-usable for browsing but now that the DL is over I can't really notice much of a difference at all to be honest. No effect on pings at all.
 
I'm throttled as well. 50k on 4Mb account at 12.45 a.m not cool, not cool at all for R.600 p/m. Jeff, what happened to all the bandwidth and full line speed between 12-07 a.m?
 
The proof will be when take up is high. The Mweb offering was fantastic when it launched.

That said I have half a mind to join while it is still young.

I take it then that

1) Steam can't be separated on uncapped, but it can however on capped accounts into freezone.
2) I will be forced to have uncapped + separate account if I want game.

Unfortunately it seems that WA Uncapped is gaming unfriendly, period.

Steam and FreeZone does count towards your thresholds, however if there are massive downloads to do it's always best to do them after hours, in Download Plus hours :)
You can game on these accounts. Gaming is on High priority.

And this was my biggest fear with this account and exactly why it's not for me. Like right now I'm downloading the KOTOR beta and if I could only download it during the Download Plus period it wouldn't be done in time for the weekend. I was strongly considering moving to the WA uncapped since our line is already rented via you guys, but that R100 saving and convenience is not enough to move over.

my god, let me get this clear:

It's 7am in the morning, I buy forced unleashed of steam, it's a 30 gig download, now you want me to download it in sections each night for the next 5 nights? are you crazy?

I and my partner use steam a lot, in fact 90% of our games is via digital distro and telling me to download just from 12 am to 6 am is so backwards thinking it's not even funny. Good thing I'm on mweb or else it would be a real kak experience this week. I mean I would have had to schedule my TOR download over 5 nights or more, come beta testing this weekend and I'm not even done with it.

I don't download a game each day, but at least two to three a month and I must now schedule it ?! serious ?!

I can't see why you people (and I say this with all respect) don't want to split steam traffic or all digital distro traffic from counted traffic, this is not the 1980s anymore some of us has grown past our technology constrained brained and gone about fully digital distros.

It must be a real bitch working in your development environment thank god I'm not there it would have killed me as a professional software developer.

In all seriousness this product will fail come proper streaming. No uncapped should be thresholded, it's proven fail imho. If openweb and mweb can do uncapped without theshold why can't webafrica, ow wait I forgot that theshold is making uncapped sustainable.

All this issues and crap to same me.... R50 p/m ?!

Or you can just download the game and get shaped? I highly doubt that the shaping policy they will apply would be that mush worse then MWEB, I know the uncapped account has better performance then MWEB when it's not being shaped.

Except that I'm getting a constant 100KB/s download on KOTOR and I have no worries of that dropping due to shaping. HTTP traffic should not be shaped, it's just a annoyance if it does. I don't mind p2p shaping on the other hand, but my biggest downloads are usually HTTP. This is where MWEB has the upper hand IMO.

I'm also downloading the swtor beta, started yesterday afternoon and up until now it's been downloading between 100 - 110kB/s constantly. I've been "throttled" long before yesterday on my 1mb uncapped account from WA :p So far the R100 saving is working for me :D
