Hi all,

Anyone have anymore details on the FUP? For example I do around 200Gb a month, mixed downloads, streaming and gamin. Is the FUP a rolling window, can it distinguish between stream, steam, downloads and gaming?

Hi,

We cound your overall usage between 6am - 12 midnight and yes, your star rating is determined by the service over the 10 day rolling window period.
 
Trying out the 10mbps home uncapped on my 40mbps VDSL line, seems good so far. Will see how things are after 10 days.

If you do most of your downloads between 00:00 and 06:00 you'll be fine.

What line speed you looking at?
 
Quite impressed with the speed so far, on a 40mbps line the soft limit of 10mbps uncapped is not aggressive at all :D


The first part of speedtest actually comes in at 40mbps.

I would just like to know why my star rating is already at 3 and it's only the 1st of the month? I've only downloaded 2.3GB so far and it was PS4 game updates. Surely this is not right??

Hi Mike2408,

the star rating doesn't reset on the st of the month, unlike, the capped service. To gain your stars back to 4 or 5 stars - this is dependent on your usage. Please PM me your account details so I can look into this for you?
 
Disappointed that there IS heavy throttling / shaping during their midnight 0h00 - 6h00 hours!
Web Africa support declared to me that midnight downloads won't be blocked AND don't count towards my star rating. I queued up torrents for downloading at those times:

1 Sep - everything was fine
2 Sep - totally blocked! Only a few mb went through. They blamed the congestion but streaming and browsing was perfectly fine.
3 Sep - blocked again after a small 2 gigs went through. There's plenty of seeds so it's definitely intentional blocking.

If this continues, I definitely cannot recommend using their uncapped services.

This is not nice to hear :(

You are correct, the usage that takes place during dowload+ hours doesn't count towards your star rating. Please PM me your account details so I can look into this for you?

Download+ hours aren't counted towards the star rating because you CAN'T download due to blocking / limiting of torrent connection speeds.
It should be that download+ hours are open buffet with no limitations while peak hours are monitored and controlled as that is what your uncapped services imply.
4 Sep - same as 3 Sep, only a few gigs could be moved.
