Web Africa Home Uncapped Feedback

Hi Jeff,
did not you as a company representative and your CEO stated three weeks ago that the capacity is more then enough for this particular service? How then, two weeks later the speed went down from 350-400kb to 50-60kb. What are you saying now, is that you, your marketing department and your boss did not see it coming! Now you are telling us that your CEO and marketing department are busy writhing an e-mails, explaining what happened? My problem with all due respect is, I don't want explanations why something that i paid for in front now is not working. Why no one told us what the problems are, before taking our money. Personally I paid for a service that is very far from I've been told by you and your marketing department is going to be. Are you going to do another marketing trick on us Jeff?
He certainly did, and this is the very point I made to him.

A question from KinsZA:

Hello

I have seen the uncapped offerings from multiple ISP's quality of service decrease as their subscribers increase, where one didnt have to buffer they now do and where news was once about 50% in more busy hours is 10% etc...

Will WA be upgrading capacity to keep the same quality of service as it is at launch or even improve ?

Thanks in advance
Jonathan

answer from WA ...

Heya Jonathan,

We've provisioned capacity for the initial sales of the Home Uncapped accounts, and will be continuously adding more down the line when we see a rise in capacity.

Give our Uncapped Feedback a read through, we've got users who are well above their thresholds and either aren't seeing a decrease in priority at all, or the change is very minimal.

The quality won't decrease from our end, as we'll ensure that our network is constantly running at a very high standard all the time

It looks like WA is not monitoring capacity properly and/or is not upgrading in a timely fashion as promised.

Hi guys,

Sorry, been MIA for a bit - just walked out of a meeting.
To answer the posts here, which all basically surround the same question:

Yes, we most definitely did say that we have enough capacity provisioned and that we do monitor our usage extremely closely. Nothing has changed here, we're not denying the fact that we said that.

As I mentioned in my initial post yesterday, the sign-ups for the Uncapped accounts exceeded our expectations almost 3 fold, along with a delay in our capacity being brought online. Capacity was supposed to be allocated on Monday morning, it happened this morning.

Going back to my initial post about this, we've scheduled a large capacity upgrade our IPC links on the 15th December, to ball park figure the size of the upgrade, it's between 30% - 40%, unfortunately I can't reveal the exact numbers on this one. So, long story short -

Yes, we are monitoring our network as promised.
Yes, we have provisioned upgrades for further capacity.
Yes, we saw a delay in the capacity upgrades.
No, we don't run an over-subscribed network on purpose.

:D :D
No worries, we getting them all sorted! Our network is already top notch, the capacity upgrades from this morning have gone nice and smoothly and do seem to have made a difference.

Can't wait for the weekend!! Jimmy Carr after work today!! Woohoo, can't wait!

YouTube videos at 480p download between 45-80kB/s. With a random jump to 425kB/s for a second or two before bellyflopping back down. Needless to say that 1080p is still out of the question.

Will test Skype out in about an hour.

Browsing is perfect. Looks like the HTTPS issue has been completely resolved. We'll see though :p

Youtube going at 200KBps for me right now and twitch getting similar speeds. Let's hope it stays this way.

Well, Skype was flying at 70kB/s and quality was excellent... Now it's back down to between 15-20kB/s...

Oh well.

Youtube going at 200KBps for me right now and twitch getting similar speeds. Let's hope it stays this way.

Lucky you :p I can't watch at anything higher than 360p without it buffering like crazy :(

Edit: And now it's up to 50kB/s. Not perfect, but a damn sight better :D

Nope, I'm still going near full speed (and I'm exceeding 6 hour limit atm).

That is so much BS.

I havent exceeded my limits and the past 2 days including nites have been atrocious. Logging faults doesnt help.
The 1st day on uncapped fine everything worked. But now that upgrade on the 15th Dec cannot come soon enough.

Either the filters are broken or something else is. It is not right that those who abide by the rules get throttled while those who exceed limits can go at max speed.

If this is true and was the case, why you did not tell us: listen folks we only have capacity for 100 users for now, when we got more bandwidth we will do more sign ups. Something that you did with your Titan packages and RedAfrica accounts. I'm sure a lots of guys on this forum will be disappointed including me, but we will understand. Instead you led us to believe that everything is honky dory till the ***** hit the fan. This is what i call to be honest in front with your clients. Doing 90kb at the moment and i'm definitely throttled at 11PM. For me the product does not worth 600 bucks. FFS even MWEB was better then this. I'm out of here. Good luck to the follow forumites they will need it.

Quick speed test on my 4meg line. Location Garsfontein, Pretoria.

I checked my modem earlier and noticed that I was only getting 2403kbps and I contacted support and they refreshed my port and I reset the modem and was back to 4096kbps.

I checked it once again and see that I was back down to 2200kbps. Another reboot and back to 4096kbps. What could be the reason for this???

After the reboot (aka back at 4096kbps).

This is what mine looks like. On a 1Mbps line.

Something is fishy here since the test and the speed I'm getting is obviously different. I'm averaging half of this speed.
