Hi @websquadza

Please urgently respond to my pm.

The Mikrotik router you sold me is defective. LAN port 1 - 5 no longer work, that means WAN port isn’t working and therefore this unit is dead. A 3k paperweight.

Please see to it that first thing tomorrow morning, someone delivers a new pre configured unit to my premises and you can have the old one back.

I have sent a support ticket. Please ensure this is read ASAP and treated in the highest regard as I expect a working functioning router by the end of the day.

Morning. There's a standard RMA process that needs to be followed. The team will arrange for a collection of the faulty unit and a replacement. However, I can't promise that you will get it today (stock dependant, we may need to order from our suppliers) and couriers take up to 48 hours to deliver. We have strict COVID protocols at the moment and won't be delivering ourselves.

If only 1-5 are not functioning, you can move your PPPOE connection to any of the ports that are working (remove it from the LAN bridge). I'll send you a PM with instructions.

I think you're being a little harsh. Hardware does fail as with everything.
No, not what I meant, sorry I was tired when I wrote that so didn't explain. I have been having such a kak week last week and this week with being messed around by people that this having a router fail on me was just another kak thing to add on top of that long list.

Don't you have another router you can use in the meantime, or set one up from an old PC or something?

I do. An Edgerouter X which is currently connected. Thank the dear lord I have a backup. But still annoyed that a brand new router has 5 ports fail.

So no harm no foul in the grand scheme of things?

Can hardly blame hardware failure on the ISP.

Please show me where I blamed Websquad for the failure of the hardware? What I said was, that the Mikrotik router that they sold me is defective. That statement is 100% true. They did sell me the router and it is defective. But I did not blame them for it, I simply requested urgent assistance at getting it replaced.

So let’s not start dissecting every little tiny detail. It is being sorted and that’s what matters.

On an unrelated note to make my week and day even worse, I have just been denied access to see my pregnant wife and child at the Parklane hospital. All because of the Covid and this government and level 4 bullcrap. Fsck them! I want to see my soon to be child!

I had to go through a similar ordeal during lockdown level two when my daughter was born. I was a little more fortunate that they allowed me there after a negative Covid test. They even offered for me to sleep there.

That was at Arwyp around December. Not sure what it's like now. The induction didn't work, turned out the umbilical cord was around the baby's neck and had to go for a caeserarean the following day.

Their maternity ward is nice, there are no shared rooms there.

I understand the stress.

Shame man that’s hectic, glad everything went fine though. I can understand limiting people in a room, but in a situation like this, both parents should be allowed to be there.

tried my netgear nighthawk , edgerouter x , and ubiquti amplify
Finally upgraded! that's the good news. But seems like an issue on the line (usually something with the optic when speeds are stuck like this). Our team will send you some basic diagnostic requirements that Vumatel need to even look at the ticket, then fight the fight to get your line to speed.

So quick pre-sales question for everyone, can I sign-up on the day my current ISP cancels my service?

First time I'm switching ISPs and since I basically WFH indefinitely so can't afford to have the connection down for long.

Just to confirm you've tried different SpeedTest servers as well? (Just need to check :))
indeed, tried speedtest, net ( various servers) speedtest.co.za ,iperfmtb.vodasecure.co.za, (and an international one just for giggles speedtest.lon.websquad.co.za) funny how my international upload is way fast than my international download on this package
