Update: we’ve seen about 70% of PPPoE sessions in Joburg affecting Vumatel, Evotel and Netsteam networks restart, with the last occurrence at about 15:10. We’ve escalated to the affected backhaul provider for further feedback.

Things seem more stable now. Will continue monitoring.

I've had about half a dozen disconnects in the last hour or so, Afrihost, Vumatel Aerial, Norwood area. Reconnects instantly though...

Hi Web Squad, did they come back with feedback and a permanent solution perhaps?

Feedback here is that there was a problem with re-convergence on a failover route they use that led to a loop. It's been resolved and shouldn't happen again.

@websquadza not sure whats going on, but is there an issue with the route to Google? Used to get 100MB/s on downloads from Google Drive/etc last week, and I've recently noticed I'm only getting a max of 20MB/s now?

No issues that I'm aware of, we're still peered and no network issues. Will investigate a little and run a few tests to see what the problem could be.

Got around it using IDM. Used to get the same in Chrome, but I've been noticing a lot of issues plaguing chrome as of late in any event, so probably related to that :/
