Web Squad ISP

China Telecoms will remain down a little longer. They have started leaking our routes to non Asia locations again and this causes interference with our other transit routes. Asia latencies will be higher until this is resolved.

We're putting pressure on them to sort this out and we can then bring transit sessions up. I can't provide an ETR yet.

When would the Evotel clients be upgraded?

Evotel just sent an update on the upgrades. They have also taken the phased approach. 5 Mbps clients were just upgraded now. Next up is 10 Mbps and so on and so forth. No timelines have been provided yet.

Still doing very nicely on Websquad and Octotel in Cape Town on a 10/5 account, so thank you very much @websquadza.

This might be a provisioning issue, but it will be good while it lasts. Am happy either way, double would have been just peachy.

For those of you who are moaning about getting a free upgrade for the duration, or bad pings for games, maybe you should go elsewhere (again).

Nothing is ever free really, or check with your FNO if there are issues with your line.

If you have jumped ISP more than once since you got fiber then the problem is more likely local given prevailing conditions that are well documented on the forum.

Or maybe just chill. There are more important things going on at the moment than the game you play. But hey, who am I to talk? Just adding my voice.

Somewhere the costs for the "free" speed upgrade will need to be covered and in this instance currently it is various FNO's and ISP's but it will probably be passed onto the client eventually. Such is life.

But Websquad has been awesome since I joined them (including VOIP).

Recent cable breaks were handled nicely, no serious DDOs attacks to interrupt traffic for long periods of time.

This might of course change at short notice, but then it is up to you to handle it. Not the ISP over and above what they can handle and the client base they choose to serve best.

What is the point of your post?
This thread is literally where we are supposed to post about issues (i.e. bad pings with the game we play, etc).
Your opinion is as irrelevant as your post.
No one here is badmouthing websquad.

Thanks for the feedback here! We appreciate it.

It looks like we did indeed make an error on this upgrade, but don’t worry, it’s on us, we’ll leave it this way until the end of the promo. Enjoy the new speeds!

We don’t mind the small queries- we’ve found that fixing the small things oftentimes leads to us picking up on potential larger issues before they become a problem. Of course we can’t fix every single route or issue, but we try our best to get damn close.

Mines 191 to the server I play on in the eu, was in the mid 200’s so definitely getting better

Anyone else having issues in the Gallo Manor area of Johannesburg? I’m currently without internet; Vumatel, trenched, 1000/ 100

@websquadza do you have to reroute traffic via WACS now manually or is this an automatic procedure.

Transit traffic should have automatically re-routed at around 7am this morning. From the looks of all our probes, it has. Peering traffic (AWS, Google, Facebook etc) may still need to be re-routed by those providers - which usually happens once official confirmation that the link is repaired and stable is sent out.

@websquadza
Why does Websquad route traffic to a local Seacom address such a long way?

Trace complete.

My latency to work is horrible.
Is there anything that can be done about this?

Made a little plan here. Still not where I'd like it, but you should see a marked improvement.
