like I said in a earlier post it's very difficult to come up with a one size fits all solution, I've learnt a lot over the past 2 years of exploring the science of nutrition, but I still feel it's a hugely under-studied field and there's lots of conflicting information and at times I also feel that I've still only scratched the surface. I'll help out where I can in terms of highlighting bad or pseudo-science, or common myths based on either of those.
but here's some basics based on what I've learnt:
can exercise help with weight loss? - yes, but it's not a major contributor, an average male would have to run for an hour a day for 40 days to burn off about half a kilo of fat, all things being equal.
carbs, in short, are evil - especially highly refined carbs
GI - is not a perfect indicator of anything
stay away from polyunsaturated fats (PUFA's) and look for saturated fats
find what works for you, understand the way your body reacts to carbs, fats, proteins, experiment but do so from a perspective of knowledge, not the latest fad on the newest web site
ok those are the general rules i live by, but what about the calorie deficit thing?
In your opinion does it make a diff.
As much as i dont count calories to the T, still good to know what other options are vailable, coz if im eating all the right things, but eating too much of it, i will put on weight irrespectively.
