Weight loss

Yesterday was the first time I craved anything. I baked a vanilla loaf and I was so tempted to put a tiny piece in my mouth. I actually kind of force fed it to my family after that so it would get finished quickly. I suspect the craving was because I decided to forgo my cheat meal last week. Making up for that tonight.

Almond flour? Can I get at the health shop? Mmm now this day gonna take forever. Ill have cottage cheese and provita so long

yep, most health shops should stock, also some PnP's and Dischem carry the Nature's Choice stuff

Still think saying 'as much as you like' is going a bit overboard...

no it's not

I eat as much as I like of the right kind of food (proteins and fats), no restriction and I lose weight, there is sufficient scientific evidence to support this

Ok, so bye bye carbs, thats easy enuff, doing that at the moment.
What helps to break down the triglycerides - is that mainly through exercise?

That's not easy enough. I been at this carb reduction thing for months but I'm still craving!!!! Sigh. Yeah I'm dropping the kgs n the cms but I still want a tray of roasted potatoes and a chocolate cake

She ain't up for converting OMB.

/shrugs

if people are serious about losing weight then at least make the effort to understand how your body works and the science of nutrition, if you think fad diets are what are going to resolve your fat and health problems in the long term then good luck to you

whilst I'm a firm believer in LCHF because of the science behind it I'm also not naive in that it might not work for everyone, we each have a very complex and unique physiology, some people like ggd have other underlying issues to deal with as well like her IBS which makes it even more difficult. However, the more research I do (not just people's opinions but reading scientific research papers and following those that are very involved in the field) there is no doubt in my mind that correct nutrition can alleviate/prevent many of our everyday common illnesses including, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, heart disease etc.

The problem that we have is that people have been bombarded by disinformation and bad science for the last 40/50 years so it becomes very hard for them to accept that everything they know/have been taught or what they have heard about nutrition is wrong, it's become all pervasive.

anyway, I'll get off my high horse now

When I get the cravings I buy for other people, makes me feel better. My son is highly athletic and can eat and drink anything and is a stick, not an ounce of fat anywhere. A couple of weeks ago I was in Makro and he ended up with 40 (yeh 40) chocolate bars.:wtf:

taking out the carbs drops the insulin secretion, once your insulin secretion drops then the triglycerides will start breaking down as the body requires fuel

Insulin stimulates the transport of glucose into the fat cells, thereby effectively controlling the production of glycerol phosphate, the fixing of free fatty acids as triglycerides, and all that follows. The one fundamental requirement to increase the flow of fatty acids out of adipose tissue—to increase lipolysis—and so decrease the amount of fat in our fat tissue, is to lower the concentration of insulin in the bloodstream. In other words, the release of fatty acids from the fat cells and their diffusion into the circulation require “only the negative stimulus of insulin deficiency,” as Yalow and Berson wrote

Ok, but wont it get the fuel from the fat and foods you are eating, what will tell it to break down your bodys fat cells?

Its not like I don't care about my body or the science behind it and I'm definitely not one for fad diets. I just have my opinion on certain things. And I have tried a lot of different eating plans over the years but one still has to find a plan which is sustainable and effective for oneself within healthy limits, even though science might prove otherwise in other cases. A family member of mine went from 13kg overweight to on the way to underweight and she is still losing more weight. So obviously what she is doing works but it isn't healthy at all.
And just in my opinion, eating as much as you want of anything, no matter how good it is for you, isn't practising discipline and its unnecessary. Its just what I think, personally.
