For what it's worth, a few tips that are working for my cutting cycle at the moment: I have done this for 6 weeks so far and am so impressed how easy it was that I am going to carry on. I am 6ft and was 91kg at the start. I trained 4 to 6 times per week for between 90 and 120 min, 55 min of which was cardio spaced out over the workout session.
Gym in the morning on an empty stomach, drinking a preworkout before and either creatine or MRP protein after. Your body will have to use stored fat to use during the gym session. It is easier for your body to metabolise muscle than fat, so expect to lose a bit of muscle size. Train hard on weights to ensure you retain your strength as you cut. Eating breakfast when I got home from gym spaced out my eating and really gave me a headstart on my overall daily calorie intake, which I think might be the secret to this.
Then the other 70% really is diet. No simple sugar. No compromise. No chocolate. No potato crisps. No takeaway. Lots of fruit, ideally fruit that you enjoy which helps you stick to it for a while. I bought Woolies strawberries, kiwi, pineapple chunks, coconut pieces etc. And ate it as a snack at work. Maintain Low carbs where you can. I replaced oven chips with roast veg.
I know this won't appeal to everyone, but after 15 years of training, I have just this month realised just how important diet's role is. I have never really been able to lose more than 2 or 3 kg of fat before resorting to my old eating habits. This time I really stuck it out and have lost 7kg of fat so far in just under 2 months, bringing my weight down to 84, which I haven't seen on the scale in over a decade.
I hope this inspires 1 or 2 people in a similar position to stick to their guns. When you see the results and the fat keeps dropping off, it really helps you to eat better, push harder and change your life for the better.
