What PC to get for 9k?

Depending on your board it might not be able to take 45nm cpus.

I would rather have as much ram as possible. You will notice the difference. Little things like load times, multiple applications, it all helps. I have 4gb and my PC really never slows down unless there's some abnormal activity going on.

I would recommend selling what you have to fund the one you'll get. I reckon you'll get around 1,5k for the components you will be swapping out.

Then if you don't need other expensive components like PSU, monitor, chassis etc you can afford to go big - i7 920 with Asus P6T and 6gigs memory, 1tb hdd, 2x4850 perhaps. Don't go TOO big with the graphics card because the next generation is imminent and it sounds like it's going to be a big step forwards.

pcint has the p6t for 2800. and i agree you won't do that system justice with a 19" lcd. Sell it for 1k and spend another 1k to buy a 2333sw for 2100.

Good plan.

With this kind of budget I'd get two 2333's or two of those 23.6 inch Sammies for sure.

One 23" is still a massive improvement. But try go for the 26" Samsung!

Once you've experienced two, you'll never go back. I never understood the fuss, till I tried two. It is awesome. I'd have three if I had the cash...
I have two now and I don't see the fuss...Lol:)

what about 24" LG?

Don't know about LG but the samsung monitors are amazing quality at VERY good prices. Im yet to see other monitors that impress me as much as the samsungs.
