OK so im on my third account of the month..

first 3gb, then 1gb, then had to get another 1gb yesterday for the rest of the month..

ok so the end of the month is coming up..fri.
i understand telkom has a dynamic capping system that caps u as soon as u have reached the limit?

if so, when is it safe to start downloading at the end of the month? cos i could probably download 1gb in an hour or so.. so i dont want to start downloading at 10 AM only to be capped at 11AM and not have internet for the rest of the day..

is this the case? or is it on a daily basis or what?

thx for the help

I think it would be 12am on the last night of the month or around there.
I stand to correction though.

I'm not sure if i understand your question completely. The limit is for a calender month (1st of every month, 12am, to the last day of the month, 11h59pm). Then from the 1st of the following month, you're usage is reset until you reach your limit again.

Well on a 3gb cap you automatically get disconnected when you reach 6gb.

1gb cap you ain't so lucky, you get capped on 1gb

and a 2gb cap you can maybe squeeze out 4gb

Your cap gets reset come the 1st of the month, but remember your session has to drop in order for you to connect again properly.

So if your capped on the 30th or 31st and go over into the 1st you have to drop that current session and reconnect again.

no i mean say on friday the 31st i start downloading at 10AM and download 1GB or more..
will it cap me as soon as i reach 1GB???

beacuse then i wont have internet for the rest of the day (fri 31st)

o0

yeh haha the point of this thread was whether or not i will get capped during the day
or only at midnight will it cap o0
cos i wanna DL the whole day, but wont bother if im gonna get capped during the day , cause i wanna use the internet at night..

dunno if u understand me ..trying my best to explain..

Yip, he understood you, Photonman works for telscum, if you read what he said, you will see that you won't get above 1GB with a 1Gb account, so it doesn't really matter and therefore, yes, they do cap dynamically, happened to me today at just over 6GB on my 3GB account ;)

I wish I only got capped at 6GB on a 3GB account.

With Mweb you get capped at exactly 3GB.
With Webafrica you can go over a little more thann 3GB and then get capped.

That's why most people use the Telkom accounts at the moment. If there was an equal alternative, 99% of Telkom users would drop them in a second (I'm sure).

Aint that the truth - though AFAIK there is nothing stopping other ISPs, especially one like Mweb, from implementing the same flexible capping.

Hence my point about resetting IP at mid-night.

They say it is to monitor the usage - BUT then we would be capped at mid-night - but of course not.

Was capped yesterday (30th) at about 5.02pm on 6.02G

So take your IP resetting scheme and shove it where the sun dont shine.
