Guys....save the fingers.

There will be announcements in this month. Our new billing system is top priority right now.

Thanks for understanding.

To expand on this.

Any new products / pricing / changes will require changes to the current billing system and I rather don't want to do anything that might introduce new instabilities. We've all had enough of that.

So once the new system is bedded down (a few weeks at most) we'll start doing some cool stuff.

On pricing as a general point, and outside of a generic 'we want everything cheaper' :), what are the suggestions from you guys?

I've looked at the packages and with most of them iBurst is pretty much at the lowest end and often the lowest.

I guess OOB would come up, for example?

We are already doing stuff no-one else is doing like international uncapped (at a lower speed) once your bundle is depleted, two modems on one bundle, etc.

Your thoughts?

The ability to buy prepaid airtime at Pick 'n Pay (a la Axxess vouchers) will be a step in the right direction, so that people without credit cards will also be able to enjoy the benefit of a month-to-month iburst connection.

Most people will see this as a safety barrier, to prevent any unauthorized debit orders going off. (By that time the problems with the current system should be ironed out).

The basic packages is even high. A 1GB ADSL package is available at less that R200. iBurst is more expensive. (Ok - iBurst is faster if the L3 providers have all their ducks in a row).

Not many people I know use the mobility aspect of iBurst - it is a fixed line replacement - so no cost premium for this please.

Free OOB at 64kb/s is ok'ish

TopUp is rediculous - Neotel set the acceptable rate at 8c/MB - for faster advertised speeds. So 6c/MB would be acceptable for iBurst speeds :-)

Jannie,

Would it be possible to post your comparison table here (or somewhere else where it is accessible) for everyone to look at?

As said by kaspaas, iburst is really competing with other fixed-line providers, as most of us ibursters hardly use it as a mobile internet solution. Take my own case in point - ADSL 4 Mbps would only be available in my area sometime next year (I have been waiting for more than 5 years :)) hence my reason for choosing iBurst. So, this probably means that most people (including me) compares iburst to other fixed-line providers.

Just a thought...

I would like your links to your research on that please.
Exclude all the C@ below 3 gig please (those packages should not exist in the first place.)
Serious - You made the statement.. now give us the data to back it up please.

1 similar Comparison springs to mind : 384 Kb/s ADSL to iBurst.
And I am sorry to say you are being blown out the water completely. (Even on 4 Mb/s..)
iBurst is NOT mobile.

We are being strung along on a masterful deflection action here of "How much can we afford to give away while maintaining Maximum profits..."

And I honestly thought that iBurst was going to come up with "something new"...

The bells and whistles are all well and good, but if I had to trade, I'd take more bandwidth any day. Yes, "We want more for less" really is what its all about. Bandwidth and price remains a big issue in this country. Everything else is smoke and mirrors to this. Its no use just talking about it in general terms like is just the way the consumer is anywhere in the world. The fact is that South Africans are sick of being fleeced in this regard (as well as with regard to bank charges, car prices, pipes, bread, cameras, etc). Telkom effectively stole from us for years and years and the feeling is bad, really bad, and consumers have become as cynical and suspicious about big business as they are about politicians. I'd take a cheaper Telkom deal if I didn't hate Telkom so much. And yes, it is Telkom we are comparing iBurst to. I don't even think about about the cellular oligopoly here.

And, please, keep it simple and straightforward. Compare Virgin money with any other credit card in the country: Virgin has a list of about 8 items while the rest have pages of it and each item is a bloody mathematical equation. Its classic price opacity. I hate the way Telkom rearranges its prices to make them look cheaper when they aren't - and then they bald-faced lie about it too. Anyone who looks out the window at the rest of the world can see its its a lie.

The way I see it, this is an opportunity for iBurst to show some leadership, swim upstream a bit, show Telkom up for what they are. iBurst will be pleasantly surprised by the wave of goodwill.

Thanks for listening.

At dial up modem speed yes - welcome to 1990.
Two modems in one bundle - You may ask the question : why does somebody need 2 modems in one bundle in the first place?

Nope...

Shaun here.

I will request from product a comparison chart.

Shaun go to bed. You are not feeling well.
Your CEO has posted on this thread and is quite capable of answering himself,

he should go to bed, Yes, but YOU need to wake up.

stop wasting your time & effort in iburst threads, and start looking for a better ISP - its not that hard....

What exactly is it that I am wasting my time & effort in iBurst Treads?
So are you basically saying that all iBurst clients should leave and look for another ISP?
