Hi Guys,

The installers have completed the installation and our only ISP for the start is Vodacom.

However, we have been informed that more ISPs seem to be getting on board and we will be able to choose between

  • VOX
  • MTN
  • Cell-C
  • Cool Ideas
  • Cape Connect
  • Metro fiber
  • Makeshift
  • Huge Connect
In the near future. So Vodacom it will be, but which of the others do you recommend?

You're lucky, I think I had maybe 3 to choose from. Went with Cell c and no issues as they were the best of the lot. However with so many available it's definitely worth shopping around. Maybe a month to month with VC until you decide otherwise?

Exactly what I've done. Installation of R 910 though :o But Month to month is just better from a management point of view for me.

MyBB ran that 'rate your fibre ISP' thing a while ago, have they publish the results yet?

That said, really happy on Vox but if I were looking to change it'd be to Cool Ideas.

I'm assuming this is on vodacoms own fibre network. I've read of other people stating 2 year's ago already that vodacom said they will become open access in the near future. Still not open access.

From my understanding the contractor doing the installation is a Private company. They did the roll out and Vodacom was the first to "sign-up" as an ISP with them as far as I can see. I have no idea, but I know Vodacom is the sole provider at this stage. They installing company however sent me the list of ISPs in the pipeline, and advising us to sign up for month to month if we're thinking of changing ISPs once they become available and supplied the list above.

I don't mind really as currently with Vodacom it's R 699 for 10/5 which is perfectly fine for me now. They have an FUP of 300GBs though (still plenty). At that price, it's a steal. So not really bothered. I just want an ISP that has close to zero issues when it comes to billing, fault reporting and the likes. I guess that's a pipe dream though.

I’m probably going to change from cool ideas . I know everytime the question is asked everyone says cool ideas which is why I went with them. Hard to know who to change to when everyone is saying CISP. Maybe VOX.

I'm with "home connect" and very very happy! After moving to them I am paying less money and getting double.
