There were 4 or 5 suppliers, I got 2 bottles from whiskybrother and 2 bottles from stockup. Booked in advance from whiskybrother and all the allocation was sold out before they received stock.

Yeah. Was a bit out of my budget and buying on faith that it was worth it.

Yup. Weak rand and new sin taxes are driving up the prices.

Half way through the bottle in the last 6 months and that's with sharing with some friends. I don't drink a lot these days so when I do have the opportunity I usually make the event worth it.

Then I won't have Any no alcohol to enjoy.....and drunk kids.

Anyone going to the Wade Bales Wine and Whisky Affairs, Cape Town tickets are available, waiting for JHB tickets to go on sale. Should be sometime in May.

Im still a novice Whiskey drinker, not yet found one that serves me well.. love the Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey but that doesn't really count, so what would you guys recommend as a soft easy drinking whiskey with perhaps an inclination to the sweeter side? (got a sweet tooth on me unfortunately!)

Find some of this, a whisky liqueur. Also doesn't count as whisky. Glenmorangie nectar d'or for a sweet whisky, or tullibardine Sauternes finish.

Depends on how much you want to spend, but I'm a big fan of the Glenmorangie Lasanta which would fit your description. Otherwise Jameson is quite nice and a bit on the sweet side.
