Macallan has a 78yo at a whopping 42.2% ABV. Maybe I'm too poor to understand but I can't imagine a whisky ever being worth that price.

Think it was on Whisky Tribe where they reckon one of the main reasons whiskies stay in a cask that long is because they're never ready, can't ever imagine a sip of a whisky at that price being worth it.

I like to believe some idiot forgot a barrel somewhere, and it was only discovered like 78 years later and they go "ooooooh, PROFIT!"

Probably just me though.

Isn't that how A'Bunadh came about?

The master distiller found his workers drinking away at a 19th century bottling they came across and so he set out to recreate that flavour profile?

Had the morning off so I went up to Checkers Liquors - forgot our wonderful laws have closed bottle stores on public holidays. Y'know, because people won't just stock up the day before.

Anyway, I saw quite a few Private Barrel Company bottlings that caught my eye. Seems they get love from all who've tried them. That and the Springbank 23 on Checkers FS will be the target next month.

Anyone have experience of the 16 year old?

Seems a great price at liquor City, what are community thoughts?

Will be interesting to see the thoughts on these new finishes - the Classic is quite beloved online in terms of quality : price.

I'm looking to buy a Glendronach 2008 PX from someone in Cape Town for R1500.

Can anyone recommend a courier service to get it to Durban? The seller hasn't shipped before (and neither have I).

I've had the Peated and Chardonnay casks, and think both are pretty fantastic. I've tried the 12 and it's certainly one of the better 12 year olds out there.

That's a good price for a bottle that's pretty difficult to get. However, do u realise that is more sherry than Whisky?

Remember to post pics, we would love to see what's on offer in the PBC range. I'd love another Mortlach 14.

I think I'm doing it wrong:

Alcohol -> 30cm x 30cm x 30cm + 2kg

Eish, I could fly to CT, have a weekend holiday and still save money on that. :cautious:

I'm a Glendronach + sherry lover so that's persuading me even more to get it.

Try getting a quote for industrial alcohol(sanitiser) instead of alcohol(whisky). 30x30x30 cm seems big 4 just 1 bottle.

Nevermind, I'm an idiot. I put 30 for quantity instead of height. :whistling:
