You get paid for what you know and if they only know how to dig the gold that is what they will get paid for thats the corporate world, look at telkom those techies black and white work damn hard but the black and white guys working in the office get more money.

Also my one friend only got matric and got a job as melazai(sp) also he is getting the same pay as every other black person in the same field . Dlk as you work on the mine you can explain what that is

Black people should really stop think whites got everything for free during apartheid without even working .

Brenden, you seem to be quite good at ignoring great things that black people have done.

I'm not going into a pissing contest here but just look at some of our black businessman (who where rich before BEE) and what about Mandela, Kofi Anna, Botswana, Namibia...... Moazmbique is also now doing pretty well.

Time to take a look around you and see that it's not all falling apart. It's not all great either though. Just let be reasonable....

Judging by African standards, there are a lot to applaud for. Judging by world standards, it's not so peachy. It's ironic that South Africa is the "best" african country, and that it also has the largest white population. Who ordered the building of the railroads, the highways, the cities? Nothing new like this has come from the black govt. They've messed up horrendously with identical challenges that face them in this era. Look at the development of the broadband infrastructure. Given, it's hard to develop anything if they steal the cables the moment you turn your back.

Whose fault is that? With such a majority in power, the blame is squarely on the black government. They just don't deliver.

Well, I work as a Rock Mechanics Engineer, the person who is responsible for designing a mine to make sure it does not collapse. I know my fellow "engineers" who do not even have a matric certificate and yes, they got everything for nothing. Why were they given preferential jobs? Today, mining requires special thinking and most of these people are struggling at their jobs because they shouldn't have been appointed in the first place. I'm simply stating my observations, not my thinking.

Just so happens that my uncle is a mining engineer (and yes he has a tertiary degree) - he's been happily in Australia for over a year now.

Actually, I studied/worked in Australia, WASM, Kalgoorlie in 2000/1. South Africans have lots of opportunities in mining in Aussie and Canada mainly because those countries need the skills. Its a free world and if your uncle is happy there, he must stay. My experience is Australia wasn't great. Western Australia is filled with the worst racism I've ever seen. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw how these people treat Aborigines. Makes me wanna breakdown. I cannot live in such as society.

@ dlk001 if you apply sa logic to the situation you can't be racist if you are the majority. The aborigines should just grin and bear the majorities way of life or leave.

but you are right I went to AUS in October on a LSD trip and the ausies are some of the most racist people i have encountered. I got on a plane the steward first smelled the aborigine in front of in the cue to make sure he was not drunk before they allowed him to board.
