Hi guys,

Anyone else having trouble connecting to the WiMAX tower on Kanonkop?

My WiMAX went down 2 days ago (first problems EVER) and I went to the Telkom shop at Tygervalley. The guy there phoned some other technical guy who confirmed that there is some kind of problem up there (whew, so luckily not something on my side) but now it has been down for 2 days already!!!

Anyone else? :(

Shame dude am to far from you..

but this must be a really big issue for it to be going on for this long?

I know, but that's what's nothering me most. You'd think that stuff like this can be sorted out quicker. I've been a very happy wimax customer, but now I'm a bit frustrated I must say.

Worst of all, Telkom can't give you any real answers either. Does somebody maybe have a username/password to the SAIX Notifications thingy where they upload all their faults and stuff? I'm curious to know the progress on this thing.

Thundering Pizza Cats (ok I have no idea where that came from either :-) )!!!!

I phone 0800 375 375, and none of them know of any problems! What the hell! Telkom doesn't know whats happening with Telkom's own stuff it seems.

What do I do with this reference number they gave me? Is there some online thing where you can track the progress of you problem?

:D It's because you moved it yourself... :D

We had the almost the same problem a while back... It doesn't connect and when it connects, the dl's are up to *****, but the uploads are fine. There was a problem with the
tower which I connect to and it was sorted out 3 days later... :( Soz for the bad news, but if it is the same thing, you have 1 more day without internet...

Haha, yes wel, if it was because I moved it myself it must've happened a while back already. I moved that stuff at the beginning of april.

But thanks for the good news though....I feel so much better about the 10 gig cap I bought on sunday!!! WHICH IS NOW USELESS!

I actually had to apologize to Telkom this morning. (ain't that something). It seems like the problem was with my OpenWeb account. It simply does not authenticate. I tried somebody else's cap and my WiMAX is fine. Now to deal with openweb!

@MysticBoer - There was a problem on Kanonkop. I was down for 24hrs.

Really? That's interesting...but I've been down waaaay longer.

My account still doesn't work and I've tried other ones that actually do....so weird coincidence that both are broken at same time. Anyway, I'm sorted again now, so no worries :)

WiMAX Problems

A handy tip is to ALWAYS test your PPPoE connection using Telkoms limited guest account. username = guest1@telkomadsl password = guest1. You will only be able to connect to the Telkom website but at least it proves whether it is the wimax tower problem before you have to sit in the 0800 375 375 queue for 1/2 an hour for nothing ! (Or get a second account from a ISP that does not expire monthly!)
