Hi Guys,
I am one of those poor blokes that has to suffer with vodacom hspda.

I would love to get Wimax BUT I am covered by the adsl footprint, problem is adsl is not an option for me.
And Telscum only provide wimax to those not covered by the adsl footprint.

So whos with me  on starting a petition to get Telscum to offer Wimax REGARDLESS if your covered by the adsl footprint or not!!!

O...k...
Clearly you missed about half the posts done in the last few months, as well as doing your homework.

Telkom would PREFER to offer you a DSL over copper, but you may call 10217 regardless of DSL coverage, and order WiMAX for yourself if you are covered.
They will not refuse you, but they might even try really hard to convince you otherwise.

I can only think of one place this "petition" of yours belongs... about 6 months+ in the past.

I live within an ADSL area but because of cable theft (regular) I may apply for WIMAX.

Why is ADSL not an option?:D

I live in Nelspruit... CENTRAL Nelspruit.
I am in range if approximately 3 DSL exchanges.
Phonelines already exist in the place i moved in to.
All that would be needed is to activate them.

Step 1: Call 10217.
Step 2: "I want WiMAX"
Step 3: Give adress
Step 4: (This is the tricky one) "Yes i do know that I am perfectly located for copper DSL, I STILL WANT WIMAX, thanks"
Step 5: Complete the rest of details asked.
Step 6: Gloat in the glory that is "I INSIST THANK YOU VERY MUCH"

Btw, Telkom has had some fire started under their A$$e$, because all of that, along with 2 Technical queries related to WiMAX all got done in 9mins 47 seconds, including ring-time, hold-time, and menu-times.

Learn your rights as a customer.
Learn for once that TELKOM NEEDS YOU, not the other way around.

If you dont believe that Telkom needs you, wait a year, NeoTel is already scaring the crap out of Telkom in their deployed areas.

I think we all fail to see why ADSL is not an option?

The only thing I can think of is that in the long run WiMax at 512kbps is cheaper than ADSL 384kbps. Unless you end up with a telkom landline for voice etc as well.

ADSL ~R130 for landline, ~R150 for 384kbps "ADSL line" = R280

WiMax = R240 per month with ~R500 install fee

Is this you're reasoning?

Ooops gay, I quoted the wrong person! :D Thought you were the OP, but it seems like you're getting at the same thing??

Thing is I dont have a phone line, actually i did, but its cancelled now and to activate it again, i would have to get new analogue line "installed" and do the SIO for the adsl and then pay for a telephone line which im only using for internet. If they dropped the analogue and just charged adsl line rental then id sign up quick quick. So the adsl route is just so much more delayed and more working with telscum!!! Going to try apply for Wimax end of month again
