Windows 10 launched in SA

I just noticed the install didn't clean up the Windows.old directory. So I deleted it. Had to change permissions to be able to do so.

And now I have gained 14GB in disk space.

If I compare the amount of free space before and after the upgrade (after deleting Windows.old) it seems I have saved about 10Gb in disk space. Shows you all the crap that accumulates over time with windows updates.

Just finished installing and booting up for the first time, out of curiosity how sluggish was everyone's first boot? So far to get the start button actually responding took about 10 minutes, desktop icons and taskbar icons are constantly disappearing... Hoping this all starts sorting itself out...

Well this sucks! After leaving my laptop on all day at home while I was at work, I come home to discover the infamous $Windows folder has been created!

All good so far.

Bad news: It only contains 140MB, and was last modified at 10:00 this morning *sobs*

Over the past hour of anxiously looking at the folder, it hasn't changed a sausage. Not one new byte has flowed into it. Aaaaaargh, Windows, why would you START giving me the upgrade and then just make me go cold-turkey? That's incredibly cruel and unusual punishment.

It shouldn't have, my install was actually ready yesterday at 8 am, but need to backup stuff first.

It downloads elsewhere and moves to $Windows in chunks...

My d/l cocked up(or I cocked it up) and had to redo it which is very annoying, is currently "Preparing Installation" and getting drivers but is rather slow probably overloaded and AH won't be helping

C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\8f36b36c5f97d84a69eedf4ec27435ec seems to be the download location.

Still no download for me, Message is the same, Win 10 update reserved, I will be notified when to download.

I think I will wait until its automated, thanks anyways. Seems to be quite a few issues still.

Have to say, Windows 10 running smooth as butter after install and configuration.

Have not had a single issue.

Also seems faster than windows 8.1 and no errors on my laptop, going to do my mom's laptop which has windows 7 when it finally decides to download.

Still yet to try a game and see how the performance is. How does one move a Windows Vista laptop to Windows 10 for free?

There was a link here somewhere where you can buy Win 8 from a online site for around $22. Seems cheap enough. Time to dump Vista - its long dead.

I know it sucks after running Windows 8/10 :p, I use it as my media device for music and stuff.

If I do a clean install with my windows 7 key do you think it will work?

Same here. So far so good.

I've also, briefly, tried playing BF4 and GTA V with no noticeable issues. Will give some other games a try later tonight.

Also done some video editing with no problems. I use Premiere Pro CC.
