I felt my upgrade to from 8.1 to 10 was actually faster
Have you tried running in safe mode? Is it more stable?

If you disconnect from the net does it still do it?
Could be a network card driver issue
1. During start up press and hold power button during startup. Repeat with powering on. Eventually it will let you go into safe mode.can't start in safe mode.
