Windows 7 Beta Available tomorrow

i dont think i'm even gonna use windows vista after this, I'm only keeping it incase i find something incompatible and need to use it, so far windows 7 has won my vote, i am using it as my default Os at the moment.

great download is qued on work's server and going in fast- yay for vpn :D

...sad part is I'm only going to be able to pick it up tomorrow and then after work installing....

vista was not compatible with a lot of programmes, will i have the same problem with windows 7

Writing this from newly installed Windows 7 build 7000 on a spare 80GB drive.

Detected all hardware ok except my Audigy LS sound card and Marvell 10/100 LAN (onboard). Had to stick in a Netgear 1G lan card which was found immediately. Removed the Audigy sound card and enabled the on-board AC97 sound which has been detected and is working fine.

EDIT: On-board sound does NOT work either (it seems to be detected as 'High Definition Audio Device' but produces no sound although it seems to detect line inputs from my tuner). If I go to 'Control Panel' and 'Hardware and Sound' and 'adjust system volume' I get 'No audio device installed'.
MoBo is made by Abit and is type I-45CV. The Nvidia 9600GT graphics card and LG Flatron L192WS work fine.

EDIT2: Finally my sound is working. Uninstalled the driver, rebooted, went to CMOS and set audio defaults (F7) and booted up again and sound is now detected and volume control is back.

EDIT3: Got the onboard LAN up and running (happens to be a 'Generic Marvell Yukon 88E8039 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller' which I had to manually select from the list of LAN drivers, but its working.

EDIT4: Audigy LS sound - not yet. NB: DON'T try and use the Vista driver ;)

If anyone gets the AuthenTec AES2501A fingerprint scanner working with 7's built in biometrics, let me know. The driver install fine, it just doesn't show up in the biometrics page (but does in the device manager, under biometrics devices).
This is the stock fingerprint scanner on a lot of laptops.

wouldn't mind testing WindoZe7.......

Well, it's tommorrow (9th) but still no download link on the ms website :(

You do realize that the US is several hours behind us right? Also, the downloads won't simply appear on the page by magic, it has to be added manually as Microsoft expects the servers to get bogged down soon afterwards and needs to monitor the situation.

This of course means it will only be done after 9am PST when office hours commenced in Redmond.

Edit: This from the official Microsoft Windows 7 Website:

"Want to try the Beta? Come back the afternoon of January 9." So this means it will only be available to us sometime this evening.

to add to your jealousy, on the 28th of december I got a package from redmon with a gfx card, pinnacle 7010i tv tuner card to test the new media center in windows 7...

When I enquired to microsoft why they are sending me hardware they replied with:

ms loves me... lol :p

Which gfx card? If you say GTX280 I might hire an assassin.

As much as I would like to try 7 watching Steve Balmer just put me off it.

Going to get windoZes7 in few minutes from my work college..... nice to have access to corporate stuff

I can't seem to find a md5sum for the 32bit image (MSDN). Has anyone calculated one?

EDIT: Nevermind, SHA1 values match.

The servers are getting hammered at the moment. The page with the links to the download, is very sluggish.
