Windows 7 called slower than Vista

Peter provide proof of your ssd's, your entire post is not worth reading until such times as you provide me with proof you are running an intel 160gb ssd.

Let me know when it's done and i shall read your posts.

I think they're jealous cos neither can afford an Intel SSD. ;)

And to be honest, I regret buying that SSD.

I share your sentiments. Boot time is not really an issue for me. My PC is on most ofthe time and I put my lappie into hibernate rather than turning it off...

My Intel SSD is connected to my Mac Pro and I don't have Windoze on that.

There's no specific option but OSX doesn't seem to defrag like Windows when idling. Disks don't thrash around and sit silently.

Do I need to optimize?

You probably won't need to optimize at all if you use Mac OS X. Here's why:

* Hard disk capacity is generally much greater now than a few years ago. With more free space available, the file system doesn't need to fill up every "nook and cranny." Mac OS Extended formatting (HFS Plus) avoids reusing space from deleted files as much as possible, to avoid prematurely filling small areas of recently-freed space.
* Mac OS X 10.2 and later includes delayed allocation for Mac OS X Extended-formatted volumes. This allows a number of small allocations to be combined into a single large allocation in one area of the disk.
* Fragmentation was often caused by continually appending data to existing files, especially with resource forks. With faster hard drives and better caching, as well as the new application packaging format, many applications simply rewrite the entire file each time. Mac OS X 10.3 Panther can also automatically defragment such slow-growing files. This process is sometimes known as "Hot-File-Adaptive-Clustering."
* Aggressive read-ahead and write-behind caching means that minor fragmentation has less effect on perceived system performance.

I have defragmented OSX disks before - using Drive Genius - but the speed increase wasn't subjectively significant.
 
Yea i was just reading you cannot turn defrag off and it is not recommended to even defrag a ssd. Wonder why you cannot turn off defrag on a mac?

Makes no sense, even with the release of ssd's they still don't give the option knowing it can shorten the life of a ssd.

Mac OSX doesn't seem to defrag HDDs. That's just it. The HFS+ system has some anti-fragmentation optimisations but that prolly only works if you have plenty of disk space. As said if I don't read/write the disks sit idly and don't do anything - they even power down after a while (if that is enabled).

TRIM is not supported by Leopard or Snow Leopard yet. AFAIK.

Like you regret buying those plasmas that is not HDMI/DRM compatible. Oh yeah, I remember! the saleman conned you, they never informed you your purchase will be outdated in a few years you said, or something like that.

Your blabber about the SSD's is again without any prove or substantiation of any information to verify your statements! Again a question of bragging and bluffing. You are a poster of many over opiniated meaningless unproven or verified words/information. We on the internet call it FUD. "Fsucking useless data" is one meaning. All just personal opinions and FUD! Thumbsucks, nothing more!

No. The salesman or rather the co-owner of AudioVision, he sold me the model personally, had no idea that HDMI w HDCP would emerge in a couple years time. If you search AVForums you'll see many people are unhappy about that. It's more Sony et al's fault than anyone else. Secondly the picture is better than your current Chinese LCD so I don't mind. Thirdly I can buy HDFury and get full HD support but the BD selection is so poor its not worth it. I'll buy a 54 inch Pany in a couple years.

OH I have it. When next year they come out in much larger, cheaper sizes, maybe I'll buy a 500GB and put this 160GB in a laptop. I still paid less than local price for it. They go for R5400 locally for 1st Gen drives, which don't support TRIM.

Thats again your old diluded opinion, I have no need for a SSD yet. I also doubt if you have one (or two) neither that you ever did any testing to see if it speeds up the applications/programs after booting.
