Well as most of you know through some of my contacts with Microsoft. Well my contact finally came through and I received a disclosed copy of Windows 7 RC2 Build 7900, in both the 32bit and 64bit editions.

Apparently according to Microsoft this will only be officially available for download on 15 May 2009.

So far I have installed it and all I can say is wow. This is absolutely perfect system.

Some improvements include:

8 Minute Installation time. Now Windows 7 includes built in virtual machine software. Another nice feature is that the built in zip utility now supports .rar files.

It's just finished reinstalling.... logging in.... wait, what's that??? It says April Fools Edition in the system properties":D

Yesterday while busy downloading 7068 (which I installed now) I came across what I thought would be the perfect early April Fools joke.

However I needed help to pull it off,

Keeper edited a screenshot of my system running 7057 so it would look like 7900. Well done man, it fooled many people.

Then some members were in on it as well, including

i would like a screen shot with the build number showing ;)

build 7070 was released on ±27th, bit hard to believe they would go to 7900 build 4 days later... lol that is 830 builds :eek:

so where the shots of the build no ? :D, it would be funny if that release was 'marked' as ms used to do with some of its internal builds for tracing purposes...
 
If i would be in CT I would love to get my copy^^ But I'll just wait until RC1 and download it with local once available cause I need 32 and 64 bit.

On a serious note, where can I still get a copy of Windows 7 from? Preferably the latest 64bit version. My new 2Gb international from Telkom kicks in tomorrow so cant download local now even if possible. It has been a free beta so would it be illegal if someone helped me out with a DVD copy? If not, any good samaritans near Edenvale who can help?
