Doesn't that take up RAM, a bit of CPU process in the background? I usually just uninstall and disable any startup items that isn't essential or useful.

I've got one Vista box and one Win7 box on my desk.
Flash Player does NOT run on any browser any more on Win7. I think it did at one stage - I didn't run that much video on it :)
IE8, FF3.6 and Chrome all run Flash Player (video and other stuff) happily on Vista, but then the OS knows it's 32-bit.
Adobe sort-of admits it has a problem with the 64-bit Flash Player. They've sorted the Shockwave Flash development tool and the 64-bit linux browser add-on, but there's no release date for the Windows 7 environment: just some waffle about "after Release 10.1". See http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/faq.html#flashplayer10FAQ_64-bit04 and http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/ and http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/565636?forumId=1&comments_threshold=0&comments_parentId=565636&comments_offset=100&comments_per_page=20&thread_style=commentStyle_plain

And THAT'S why you shouldn't jump into 64-bit Windows 7. Not yet anyway.

I bought a Gigabyte Laptop the Q1580L and for some strange reason when watching videos while running on battery power the screen makes white and black lines every now and again. Only happens when using windows media player, and i checked it is the latest version. Played same movie with VLC media player and worked fine.

use Vlc or k-lite codec pack

help, ive got windows 7 basic. i can only play movies with windows media player. can`t play my tv tuner card or any other dvd software like power dvd.
do i have to upgrade to home basic or the bussiness version? i think my graphic card is not compatable, but with the windows 7 evaluation copy everything was running smoothly.
PM if you guys have any suggestions.

Upgrading can be done electronically - you buy the license and all should be good. AFAIK the stuff you need is installed but access to it is blocked.

There is a utility that will tell you how your machine rates. That will tell you if your components are okay/supported.

If you do a bit of reading up on using pae in a 32 bit system, you'll learn not to go that route. Forget about it. Install 64 bit or live with 3.25 Gb of usable ram.

How would a russina crack help with RAM...?

actually 7 is seeing and using all 3GB of RAM--the balance of the 2.86GB is proly going to video graphics--

Yeah, that might be the case but check if your BIOS has the memory mapped IO option is disabled.

my onboard eats 256mb but then why does it report 3gb?
im getting my replacement stand alone today so il try again with a dedicated gpu
