Hello,

Firstly, I have a laptop which ran into some problems and forced me to do a clean install. The laptop was running Windows 8.1 and I want to revert to 7.

I downloaded an ISO of Windows 7 (all legit)
I'm using a program called rufus to load the ISO onto a USB stick.

In order for me to allow the USB to boot I have to change some of the settings in the bios. I changed secure boot to disabled and the EUFI boot to CSM boot. I can then run the installation and it completes. Problem is that when I try to revert the changes such as selecting EUFI Boot and enabling secureboot also setting the bootable device back to the HDD From USB.

When the system is restarted with the reverted changes it comes up saying checking media... checking media failed please restart system it will will not work. I need to change back to CSM and disable secure booting for it to load the OS.

Am I missing something or are my Rufus settings wrong?

Any help in the matter would be greatly appreciated
-Thanks Leroy

Possible.

1. Windows 7 64-bit?

2. You didn't create UEFI compatible USB boot media with Rufus. It wouldn't be problem if booting installation from DVD media, but people forget it when creating USB stick. See: https://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/15458-uefi-bootable-usb-flash-drive-create-windows.html

3. You didn't delete all partitions from the hard drive during installation and/or wrong partition was created. See: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...e-firmware-interface-install-windows-7-a.html

Thank you! I googled everything possible, this must have fallen under my radar.

Again thanks for the help.

Just for anyone else. I created the EUFI USB using rufus but going the elevated command prompt route was the one that worked for me
