Re: the imminent release of Win 8.1 ...
I'm currently running Win 8 on my laptop, and I use a lot of open-source / free software (e.g. Thunderbird, LibreOffice 4, VLC Media Player, Fox-it reader, Skype, and many others)
I see the final Win 8.1 release will be an ISO image. So does that mean a clean install, and that I would lose all other programs on my laptop? ... and so have to download and re-install them all again?
Thanks for that ... and I hope you're right!AFAIK the final release will be available from the app store and will upgrade in place.
I'll stick with this, thanks....
Gary doesn't deserve to use any windows except windows ME. Gary, reformat and install ME now!
So far cant in the 8.1 Preview. Personally I don't have an issue as it make for a much larger target to hit to invoke Start (which I mainly use as a desktop program launch menu).Hope they have a way to disable to start button thingy.
