Xbox Live SA

I have been having problems for the past week. Same thing: "Your network is good, but there are some Xbox service issues"

I'm on MWeb ADSL.

When I put the console on my cell's hotspot (Vodacom) it connects perfectly. The problem is that downloading big games and updates over mobile is expensive. Curiously, I can then move the console back to my ADSL connection and it will continue to work perfectly until the next time I wake the console.

From all I've read this seems to be a networking problem rather than Xbox live itself.

Very annoying

Networking problem where though?

I plugged in my old DLink modem last night and had no problems.

Plug in the netgear and it doesn't connect same issue as you.

Had the exact same issue a few weeks ago using a brand new Asus N14u modem on two Xbox One's. Since changing the modem I've had no more issues.

I also don't have the issue if I run it on my Telkom lte using the Huawei modem.

So bizarre - still having the problem weeks later - now also from a PC trying to connect to XBox live...

what modem did you change to?

in the exact same boat here!

Up until last month everything was working 100% (Asus N14u dsl modem), was using this router for about a month without any issues. In fact i had better wifi signal then with a dlink. Went away for a few weeks, came back and just cant go online.

i tried
- removing persistant storage in blue ray discs
- reset mac address
- factory reset router
- wired connection
- factory reset xbox (and not it cant even download the startup update!)
- using Afrihost adsl, and tried WebAfrica too.

Anyway, logged a fault with Microsoft and they going to swop the consol out (so i'm told, will wait till monday)

Going to try an old D-Link modem and see if that works.

At the moment I'm using my LTE Huawei modem without issue. Before that I tried a Netgear DGN2200 and it also worked.

I just tried the Asus N14u modem again and it won't connect.

So it's definitely my Telkom Aztec router. Swapped it out for a TP Link and suddenly it works fine on Afrihost and Telkom. Factory reset the Aztec and the TP Link, put in same Telkom ADSL account - TP works perfectly, Aztec not at all.

Seems I've somehow fixed this issue, maybe others might find this useful.

Background, using an Asus DSL-N14U since March this year, and XB connected 100% first time - even had better streaming over wifi then my dlink modem. In short, worked perfectly.

Fast forward to April, go away for a month (so everything is shut down) come back and unable to connect to wifi. I tinker with the modem and change wireless to "Legacy mode" and it somehow connects to wifi. But not to Live. so it can browse my media library, but cant sign into live services.

Chat to MS live support online and we try
- remove persistent storage in bluray
- reset mac address
- power down and disconnect mains for a few minutes
- factory reset xbox (full data wipe & settings wipe)
- factory reset asus modem
- try connecting via LTE wifi hotspot on mobile

All failed. In fact, at this point - even when connecting through a wired connection it still could not go onto live. Now because we did a factory reset, the Xbox needs to download setup files which it simply refuses to do.

So i power down, disconnect power cable from XB and from wall socket. Power brick stops glowing orange after about 5minutes (i went out for some grub so was away for about an hour)

Now power up again and..

do one more factory reset, but via a USB stick

Download the reset files here
https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/console/offline-system-update-diagnostic-tool

To boot of USB you need to disconnect any lan cables and
Press and hold the BIND button (located on the left side of the console) and the EJECT button (located on the front of the console), and then press the Xbox button on the console. You'll hear 2 beeps which indicate your files have been accepted by the console.

So it starts up, does a factory reset.

Power down again.

Then download the update file, there are 3 console versions, as luck would have it. Mine was OSUDT2 - 3.3gig.
I did try the other 2 but system kicked out an error code and failed.

Anyway you have to boot off USB about 4 times iirc. Each time it 'downloads' the files to the console from USB, restarts - then applies the files, restart again and boot of USB and download more files from usb, restart and install (i know - very very repetitive! )

Eventually brings up the XB introduction video, searches for wifi - finds and connects to my wifi in a snap. Sign into live, do your basic configurations and everything now works perfectly. Powered down and up again, and everything connected perfectly.

One last tearjerker.... i wanted a short wifi SSID and named it..... Hodor :( :(

Thats a lot of work there brother, thanks for the tip, hopefully I wont have to go through that ever !!

Hold the door , hold the door !!!!!!

Thanks, could be useful to some - in my case, definitely a router device problem because can't get onto Xbox live on Xbox, and also can't get into Xbox live from my PC

What TP-Link did you get?

I'm suspecting there's something wrong with the Asus modems. Tried your method just for testing purposes and still did not work. Using my Huawei modem it work perfectly.

ASUS DSL-N14U user also having problems.

My Xbox One won't see the WiFi network at all. Can only connect without any problems on cable.

My 360 can connect with WiFi, but can only remain logged in for max two minutes before disconnecting. Even with cable it won't stay connected to live for more than two minutes.

Problems started after about 3 months since I bought the router.

Hi guys

Im new to Xbox, but have a few questions about Xbox Live Gold.

I have my gamertag, and the account is under my name. Can i set up my son with another profile and give him his own tag.

Do i have to have a Live account in terms of subscription for him as well, or is there a way where i can download games and transfer to him? I dont want him to play under my profile, but would rather want him to have his own profile. However, i really dont want to be paying for 2 accounts if possible.

Weird as far as I know you as long as you're on the same console you should be able to download the game and he should be able to play them.

Yeh on the same console, but unless im signed in, the games are unplayable asking if he is the owner. Thus because i had a password everytime i signed in, he wouldnt be able to play. Hopefully somebody can explain this.

For now i have set it so that he can just click on my profile, sign me in and then switch to his profile.

Try looking at family settings

I also own the ASUS DSL-N14U, and can't connect to Xbox Live.

By reading everything everybody posted the only solution is to buy a new router?

Or is there anything I can do to make the Asus work (already tried naeem's mother of all methods, and didn't work)
