Still not cheap enough for me. Have enough other games to keep me busy.

“It only reveals, once again, a fear about an innovative business model that offers high-quality content at low costs to gamers, threatening a leadership that has been forged from a device-centric and exclusivity-focused strategy over the years.”

It then claims: “Indeed, Microsoft’s ability to continue expanding Game Pass has been obstructed by Sony’s desire to inhibit such growth. Sony pays for ‘blocking rights’ to prevent developers from adding content to Game Pass and other competing subscription services.”

These kinds of platform deals have been common in the games industry, and reference was even made to PlayStation blocking third-party games appearing on Game Pass in docs revealed as part of last year’s Epic vs. Apple lawsuit.

The remainder of its response, and two further claims under the same section, are redacted in the document, presumably for confidentiality purposes.

Elsewhere in the document, Microsoft claimed that Sony “does not want attractive subscription services to threaten its dominance in the digital distribution market for console games,” arguing: “In other words, Sony rails against the introduction of new monetization models capable of challenging its business model.”

Last month Sony was one of a number of third-party companies (including Bandai Namco and Ubisoft) that submitted their opinions to CADE on the pending Microsoft acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

Sony claimed that the acquisition could influence users to switch to Xbox because it is “an essential game – a blockbuster, an AAA-type game that has no rival”.

Microsoft’s head of gaming Phil Spencer confirmed in January that it was his intention to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation platforms should Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard be completed.

However, it was later claimed that Activision Blizzard is contractually committed to releasing only the next three Call of Duty games for PlayStation consoles, including this year’s Modern Warfare 2.

Um what? How is this different to the myriad of console exclusives, that arguably fit this bill, from Sony and Nintendo?

Sony is smoking something, most if not all of their success is based on their AAA exclusives now they wanna run and cry cause of the potential that COD could be a Xbox exclusive, even though Phil came out saying it doesn't make sense to make it it exclusive (even though I do feel it's a "for now" comment)

Its not about limiting PlayStation access to the game.

The thing is Microsoft will make it Free day one on Xbox and sell on PS5 <-- this is the very reason my brother (A big time Sony fan) bought his very 1st Xbox when the news broke back in Jan. I see him more and more on Xbox lately as well.

Imagine ^ times how many CoD players there are.

Correct.

Time will tell if Xbox will still release future COD titles on PS after the set agreement expires.

But even if Xbox do decide to play nice and release selected titles or existing franchises from Activision/Blizzard on PS beyond existing agreements they will add those to GP day one with additional content and or early beta access.

On the other hand players on PS will have to buy the game for $70/R1200-R1400 in the near future when this deal does eventually close in the next couple of months.

This is where the hammer stroke will fall hardest.

Immortals Fenyx Rising was such a fun game (even on Switch, where I played it)

Sure, it's basically white-labeled AC origins (which to be fair, Odyssey is also :) ), but I still had a very pleasant 30-40 hours

Fixed it for ya, as it deals with the same Greek myth that is in Odyssey. :p

Enjoyed it on Xbox, but yeah has a lot of Ubi's open world gameplay like vantage points and such but it does differ just enough to be its own thing.

Enjoyed the puzzle aspect of it, Game reminded me of the old Prince of Persia that Assassins Creed killed.

The Wifi on the Series X really annoys me, miles behind PS5.

My Series X downloads at 180-240Mbps, meanwhile the PS5 10cm away on Wifi 6 does 400-460Mbps :cautious:
