Xbox Series X / S

That's marketing psychology.

Price the inferior product much closer to the superior product. And the small increase of 200 dollars seems worth it for the extra spec.

Truth be told series S should have been use 200 and the x USD 600

It's called popcorn pricing, but I don't think that was the intent with the Series S. 100% more doesn't quite work.

100% more is more representative of the product difference but psychologicaly wise doesn't work

The S makes very little sense value wise, just to get the storage on par with the X and you've almost paid for the X.

The only good reasons to choose it is if you need something small, you like the aesthetics or you're just a very casual gamer that won't have a lot of big games installed and aren't concerned about performance (maybe you have a 1080p TV).

A: I have yet to need storage. All the old games play of External just fine.
B: When I do I can always move games to my External
C: Seeing that they actually use Gen4 CFExpress spec as a medium by the time I would want storage, 120 or such cards would be out & cheaper so I don't have to mortgage my console for a maxed out card. I can simply buy smaller ones as needed. Beside its hot swap able so no need to buy biggest one I can find. <-- here I must admit I love Microsofts route.

The game sizes are also reduced due to the lack of 4k textures, so it balances out in the end I guess.

It's an affordable next gen entry point to GP which is how I think they've positioned it, and is probably meant to compete more with the Switch than the X/PS5...

This is what gets me every time. People bad mouth the Series S that literally cost R1000 less than the Switch yet is more capable in form of specs.

Just see below:

Add GamePass to the mix and its a no brainer.

Well the Switch does have portability in it's favour so it will probably come down to individual needs.

Portability (and Nintendo exclusives) vs. specs+GP...

Got my S on launch day. returned it yesterday. a few games of PES on the S and the Controller RT trigger starting to stick/make some noises.
Hopefully will get my exchange today/tomorrow latest.

Seems like the new controllers are < the XB1S controllers. I spent hundreds of hours playing PES on my XB1S and not once did the controller even blink.

Does anyone have a similar experience? Also, the L stick is a bit stiff, but that's normal for new right?

Portable vs Play on the go : Different aspects

The S is seriously Portable (Hence my Almost comment), fits easy into my Backpack and all I need is a HDMI + power cable with controller and I can game on any TV/Monitor :D

But I get what you mean :D

Good luck doing that on a long plane trip...

Got 2 units and only problem I have so far is that I have to log out of Netflix before I start on the second unit, else it just hangs. Games + Unit still 100%

Still have my xb1 controllers, might wait a bit to get the new ones or just go with a new ps5 controller ;)

Or just use the cloud gaming feature

It's quite funny how people overseas are complaining big time about lack of stock whilst we sit here in Africa and there is stock all around.
It's also why they get all the cool things first, like xCloud, All Access and Azure data centres (we only just got this).

We simply don't have the demand, and therefore the community size that they do...
