Xbox Series X / S

CD Projekt Red has a stellar reputation and then you add in Keanu Reeves for a sci-fi game and the hype is off the charts.
Also something about collectable sex cards and customizable genitals and you have an army of teen boys who will buy it just for that, no questions asked.

Use these for my Xbox controller :p

Edit: Careful in buying Xbox one related stuff for Series, they changed to USB -C format and battery bay change slightly so internal ones work the ones with cover don't.

I tried playing it late, and I don't get the excitement. Character animations are weak, and the storyline is linear even though it's an open world. Maybe I just didn't stick it out long enough, coz there are so many fans of it. I'll try again these holidays.

Remember controllers are now USB-C, so older docks for XBone won't work.

I have that exact one, it works really well and haven't had issues with it but the always on LED light is super annoying if it's going to be visible in your entertainment unit.

Oh, sorry forgot to mention it won't work with the new Xbox Series controllers, only the old ones (the battery compartments are not the same size).

I hated it! Bought it for R469 on special like 2 years ago and I was pretty keen since I love open world type games. Played about an hour of Witcher 3 - combat mechanics are weird and clunky not intuitive at all. Load times were appalling to the point of being unplayable on my PS4 (1tb CUH-12XXX)

Travel for 5 mins on my horsey and get stuck waiting for another 5 minutes for the area to load.

Haven't picked it up since and still feel annoyed.

So glad I played it on PC, you not the 1st one that complained about load times on console. Think that killed it for most.

Edit: Must also add that I finished the books and and both the 1st 2 games so I am kinda vested into the fransize.

It is one of the best RPGs out there. It is open world, but the game keeps you relatively focussed, unlike the ES games.
It is not without its faults though. I find the combat too easy, but still relatively fun.
Also remember that it is an old game.
There is also more than enough busywork, like collecting stuff and armour sets. Meh.

It's been a while since I've played it, but remember that one of the cool things about it is the depth of many of the side quests. There is usually some kind of interesting story to them, not just "I lost my ring. k thx bye" that you get in other games.

The base game is good, but from what I can tell, in the expansions is where it really shines. I really enjoyed Heart of Stone. It was really really good. I haven't played Blood and Wine yet, but it is apparently much better.

It's an old game.
I like linear stories, but I don't think many of the Witcher 3's plot pieces are linear. I remember doing a quest, making my choices, and then 20 hours or so later found out what negative consequences my decisions had. Had I found out right after making the decision, I would have loaded and made another choice, but now it would mean losing 20 hours of gameplay.

Then there's Geralt's love life. It's not like in ME (even the good ones) where it was some sort of superficial "compliment 3 times and press X to bang" BS. It is properly woven into the story, and I suspect the later parts of the game will be quite different and have different quests based on your decisions in that dept.

People praise it for getting right what the ES and modern Fallout games get so very wrong.

It does look good, but I'm not 100% sure it will be great. FPS RPGs usually have challenges with gunplay, and the combat was a Witcher 3 weakpoint.
The Deus Ex games' gunplay are probably the closest to what I expect Cyberpunk combat to be, and they weren't that good.

I also don't like overly long games and usually start to get bored after 30 hours (or even 10, depending on the game).
 
Can i share game pass with a buddy who stays couple Ks away ?

is there any way that microsoft will block the account even though there isnt anything illegal other than he using my log ins ?

Tell your buddy to get their own sub, you'd need to be sharing your password with them - that is, unwise.

Not sure if it's just me but I'm fatigued from all the Gears and Halo. It's just become generic, unimaginative run and gun stuff. There's no inspiration to keep going through the campaign because I don't really care about any of these characters. The last decent Gears campaign was probably 3 IMO.

MS seriously needs some fresh new, story-driven content like Uncharted and TLOU. Heck back in the day Mass Effect was an Xbox exclusive. They did a lot more right during the 360 days than they have since.

For all this talk of owning 20-odd studios, there's nothing to show for it except the usual Gears and Halo which we would have had anyway.

I've always didn't like Gears. I remember my first day playing Gears 1, a couple hours into the campaign I realised this feels more like work than actual fun. It's just the same old routine, move a little forward, take cover, shoot, move forward , over and over and over .
