Xbox Series X / S

Now do the Game Pass trick, load at least a year of Gold and convert it to Ultimate Game Pass for R15.
Going to try it, should i first sign up for game pass and use it for a month at the low cost and then load/convert the 12 month gold live?

Was playing Gears 5 last night and I literally fell asleep during the second mission. Woke up and saw that I didn't even die, my squad mates sorted out the battle. Switched off and went to bed.

Not sure if it's just me but I'm fatigued from all the Gears and Halo. It's just become generic, unimaginative run and gun stuff. There's no inspiration to keep going through the campaign because I don't really care about any of these characters. The last decent Gears campaign was probably 3 IMO.

MS seriously needs some fresh new, story-driven content like Uncharted and TLOU. Heck back in the day Mass Effect was an Xbox exclusive. They did a lot more right during the 360 days than they have since.

For all this talk of owning 20-odd studios, there's nothing to show for it except the usual Gears and Halo which we would have had anyway.

/rant.

Off the play Ori rather...

Yeah agreed. They need a new big title. They have dragged Halo and Gears on for long enough.

Also. . there is something amazing about flipping seamlessly through multiple games with quick resume. Playing Gears 5 get bored, flip to MW and I am in a lobby within seconds. Get bored of MW flip to Forza 4 and be racing within less than a minute. It's really incredible.

I find that most gaming has turned to 2 camps.

A movie where you press "x" to continue the plot (Mostly found on PlayStation)
and
Do repetitive action to just finish game (Mostly found on Xbox)

Both forms are kind of brain dead zombie entertainment that presents no challenge or growth as a hole. Very seldom do I find myself attached to the character I am controlling or worry about failing.

Personally I don't think the developers are to blame as I suspect the players are the reason for this as they mostly pick games with X name and stunning visuals and not care about anything else. Every forum and Youtube only ever complain about game X running at Y frames on Z resolution with realistic visuals and don't comment on the actually story. Guess this is why I find more joy out of Indie or older games as with them game play come 1st and visuals second.

There is the odd gem in AAA that delivers but normally dev houses ride the IP to the ground once they found one that worked. Example Assassins Creed. The 1st 2 games was WOW and story came with a side punch of note but now Ubisoft keeps on vomiting same old crap with people buying it up. Without playing Gears 3 to 5 I can bet you the same is happening in that franchise.

For those who have been successful in reaching Xbox support in South Africa, could you let me know how you were able to call or receive a call back?

Finished Gears 5 last night, and it was... OK. Nothing wow, and it was entertaining enough but I wouldn't play it again.

For now I'll wait for Cyberpunk and hopefully that will keep me busy long enough for MS and other 3rd party developers to bring out new stuff.

Can someone tell me what's the big hype with Cyberpunk? I haven't been following it but I see a lot of people are raving about it's release. Is this another one of those flops in the making? Like No Mans Sky?

Anyone else using their Xbox as their full media player?

It has all the usuals plus showmax and DStv now. I purchased a universal IR remote to control the TV, soundbar and Xbox with one remote, so it's really working out well

Yip, been using mine as a media center since the 360. It's the best.

Series S going for R1,000 off on the eB store if anyone is interested...

From the creators of The Witcher 3, based on a well known RPG universe.
