Ok, so I asked on Thursday. Said she was getting sick (she did go to the doctor in the week), wanted to play it safe, so she wanted to take a raincheck on it.

I tried at least, but I can't shake the odd feeling I was let down easy.
But I realised that I can't go on trying to connect with someone who's on and off constantly. It's like if I get closer she pulls away, and if I pull away she might do something low effort. And what's worse is, it's not like I mean nothing to her, I mean if I did, why do anything I mentioned in the OP then?

Now, will I be a **** to her at work? No, of course not.
But am I still gonna go the extra mile to reach out? Also no.

That’s a bit harsh on all dudes man. I also have a reasonable relationship with most of my exes, some of them have even become “friends of our” with my wife and I after we got married. But there are also some totally psycho woman out there who are more than happy to self destruct any social occasion into a zero sum game as long as it means they get to make you miserable after a breakup. Those it’s simply impossible to keep any kind of relationship with, personal or professional.
