I was lucky enough to spot an owl in Cecilia Forest this evening at about 18:50 in the thick indigenous forest above the rangers' houses. It seemed quite tame as I got within 2m of it - felt very special!

Could it have to do with camera firmware? Maybe the first K750i had the original firmware which is better than that of the 2nd model you had?

That's what I'm thinking. There are other things I've noticed on the newer one like I can't digital zoom when using max resolution (2mp). Also my message box is much smaller.

The above images were shot along time ago with the first digital camera I had.

Samsung Digimax 101 1.3 MP. It had terrible battery life, maybe 20 - 30 pics before going flat.

Sweet ! sounds a lot like my first digital camera, HP PhotoSmart 215. Also 1.3mp but a Nokia 6230i can out shoot it. Killed off 4 duracells in no time flat and they said in the manual NOT to use rechargeable batteries. Bought it for the same price at the end of 2000 and I was delighted when it got stolen sometime in 2003.

I went to a party at Rusty Hook Dam in Joburg. The sunset was dramatic and not having a camera with me, I took this one with a Nokia 3600. The colours are wrong but it's dramatic:
