Your Favourite Open Source Software?

Any recommendations for very good quality audio playback software, particularly for Linux. So far, Steawberry works fairly, well

The best program for Mac by far is VeraVox, recently released. Bit-perfect resolution and excellent library management with many facilities
If you are looking for bit-perfect playback on Linux then you are going to have to sidestep the system mixer (PulseAudio or PipeWire). These resample everything to a common rate, so you need to access ALSA directly on the hardware layer.

Strawberry is a good option. Under the backend settings you can switch the output plugin to ALSA and then specify the DAC under the dropdown list underneath this (you may have done this already).

If you are going for a hardcore music server then MPD is the way to go, together with the rabbit hole that can open up.

Screen recorder: OBS Studio

3D Production: Blender

Audio editor: Audacity

Password manager: Bitwarden

Data recovery tool: TestDisk

Media player: VLC Media Player
These are all "classics" that were already on our original list in Github so I have updated all of the entries on the current site with additional info.

Even when software is already on the list, it's always good when people share what they like and find useful so thanks for that!
