Zest T1

I used VMware. I already had a Windows 7 VM handy, because this is not the first time that an application refused to work on Windows 8.

VMware Workstation to be more specific. Not sure if VMware Player will work, but it is worth a try.

Great! Thanks. Hopefully it will be third time lucky

Hi. I repartitioned, and just cannot remember how to disable vibrate on Menu/Home/Back buttons.

Please help ;)
In Settings>Audio Profiles click on the settings button next to the active profile then uncheck "Vibrate on touch".

Thanks for quick reply. Only the General profile has a settings button, the other profiles cannot be modified. Also, I tried activating general and then disabling Vibrate on touch, but the 3 buttons still vibrate.

Ok I have it working.

I did the following:

Enabled General
Enabled vibrate on touch
Disabled vibrate on touch
Activated preferred profile

It's only a pleasure. The Settings button will also be available for profiles you create. That's strange, when I disable vibrate on touch under the General profile it also disables the haptic feedback on those 3 UI buttons as well, regardless of which profile I use.

That's great. I also tested with adding a new profile with vibrate on touch enabled, while having it disabled for the General Profile. So depending on the profile I had enabled before one of the others the buttons will either vibrate or not. Seems like that setting is sort of Global and needs to be explicitly enabled or disabled by activating a profile with the desired setting set.

So, an update form my side. I did the repartition quite a while back but only this weekend I checked my Google maps as I spent the weekend at Sun City. I'm happy to report my Google Maps voice navigation works 100%, no hic-ups, no crashes, no nothing. Which was a pleasant surprise. So I assume it's a fix they slipped in to the partitioning software.

As it stands, I'm very pleased with the phone, the only issue remaining is still the screen responsiveness/accuracy. For the most part, it's quite ok but every now and then it will just go haywire, and then typing becomes a nightmare. It's odd though as it's not quite consistent.

I must say I've not experienced any of the battery related issues you guys seem to be having. Mine is very consistent and predictable in usage and the way it drains during the day. I do charge it every night though, but I'm also not a light user.

Overall, since the partitioning, the phone is in my opinion, in a much better and usable state than it was ever before.

Okay, so here is my first major problem.
Just yesterday I picked up my phone to see that it was dead. I put it to charge and after it was complete it died within half a day of NO USE! The phone feels constantly hot (almost 50 degrees Celsius according to Antutu) which I assume cannot be healthy for the phone. And to top it off, I think the heat had an effect on the flash because it that doesn't work now too.

Oh the nightmare that I see coming :(

I know they will fix it but I cannot afford to be with out a phone, I need it for work. Unfortunately, I do not work for a few hours like the performance that I get from this battery.

I should have paid a bit more for something a bit more reliable.

No don't send it in for a fix, have it completely replaced. No down time.

I will try to get that done. I will report of my experience in time.

Good luck with that. I am having no luck in drawing out a response from Zest Mobile regarding repairs. I lasted about two days using a 10 inch tablet as a phone, then bought a budget Nokia 105 to tide me in the mean time. I first sent them a query on the 15th of July and have been poking since then.

I hope you fair better.

Hi Wayfarer, no it does not and frankly, I recommend you stay far away from this phone. My first one was broken, out of the box, and yes, it was replaced. The problem is that the second one, even after all the updates, force closes applications for no reason, with no messages. These are apps I use on other phones like Galaxy S3, Experia Go and Pocket.

Do yourself a favour and buy a proper phone, it won't be much more expensive. Check out the Orange ZA store http://store.orange.com/za for some really great prices.
