Zest T1

^^ I see there's free shipping to ZA. Customs duties etc? What's the final amount you pay?

I have never paid customs from DX...so far and I've ordered a fair amount as well.Maybe luck of the draw.DX label it a gift with a lower value.

Yep, luck of the draw. My parcels gets hit at random and I happily pay the duties and tax. It is the processing/warehouse fee that I am not fond of at all. On the low value products I sometimes never bother to go and pick it up even, I reorder it rather.

They are supposed to launch their flagship device - Accelerate - early next year. Wonder if it is worth waiting for.

I've never received anything from DX without it being retained in customs until I send the invoice...

Glad I returned the Zest T1 back to Afrihost! Sound quality wasn't clear from the beginning. A cheap phone has better sound quality by far. I wonder if they selling a lot of these phones on TakeAlot :) I would never ever touch the brand again! They only care about money.. The customer never comes first. I wonder what happen to Zest Accelerate any news!

+1

This company and phone are junk. Please disregard any positive statements I may have made about them in the past.

Thanks.

Do not buy the Accelerate! you will regret it! I only had bad experiences with Zest and the T1.

The Accelerate is still only listed as coming soon. Depending on what it offers and at what price point, I might be tempted.

It seems my experiences with my T1 is a lot better than some of you guys. The only real pain I have with my T1 is battery life. Everything else has been sorted via software.

Battery life is fine on my side. When it doesn't go from 90% to dead. Then shows 15% when I restart.

No mine doesn't do that, it's just under heavy use (which means normal for me) it lasts about half a day

I've given up on Zest...I have ordered this phone...longer battery life by far http://www.dx.com/p/thl-4000-4-7-ip...e-w-1gb-ram-8gb-rom-black-362700#.VIYHe9KUfmA

Looking at the specs, it states WCDMA : isn't that something totally different then UMTS or HSDPA, the 3G systems we are using here in SA ?? Will the 3G even work in SA ?
Very similar specs as Zest, but not Dual SIM.

Back to Zest T1. Read many negative comments on this thread. For this old fart, not in IT or telecoms, BBT, born before technology, as my teenage daughter once called me many years ago, it was my first Android touch phone.
Quite a change from my old Nokia N96. So really had to get used to the phone, and did not do complicated things with it like repartitioning. Installed just a few apps on it :bank, weather and about ten more.
Just as mentioned often here, the indication of battery charge was poor. But ordered and received two spare batteries from Zest ware house in Elandsfontein for R 50 each. They are a bit better, especially when it comes to reflection of remaining charge, they are 100%. So it seems to be a fault in the first batch of batteries.
Typing is not very accurate, and is some times irritating. Indeed phone appears to be unstable occasionally, switches it's settings on it's own, it appears.

As a whole, actually not too unhappy with the phone. Ordering, payment and collection of spare batteries and screen protectors was quite smooth.

While on the subject, I don't see standalone batteries for sale on the Zest site. Did you contact them directly with this request or am I missing something?

Just want to get some clarity here, how much did they charge you per extra battery? How much did they charge you for delivery?

Onedayonly is doing a special on the T1 today.

Ha. Only way that they are going to get rid of their stock? R1599 for the phone and R99 for a flip cover... excl delivery.

Yep, made a request on their website. Got a reply from David, in June somewhere. Stating they had a limited number of batteries without mention of a price. I replied him months later and asking whether I could get the batteries for R 50 each, as they were most likely not new. Never received a reply, so forwarded the same email again to Zest. And indeed got the batteries, which looked brand new, for R 50 each.
My son collected the batteries and screenprotectors at the Elandsfontein warehouse, which saved me R 99 for courier costs.
