Hi All.

I need help with my ZTE MF283+ router.

I want to clear my sms'e , i can not enter the menu on my router , otherwise
It hangs .

I did try to Reset to factory settings in Zte menu in browser ,
And did Press to button on top of it to reset it , but that do not clear
It.

I try contacting Zte and search for information on that without luck,
and there are no updates for the Device either.

And Help to solve this would be Great Appreciated.

If SMS's don't go out after factory reset, it means they are stored on the SIM.
Take out SIM, put is in the ordinary phone and delete from here.

The messages is on the device memory and not on the sim, so i have no idea what the
Router have been smoking, but it ain't good.

I'm not really sure what to do, the rest of the setting it take to default, when resetting to Factory settings.

Ok seems no one got the anwser for that.

So do anyone know if there are other software/firmware , like
tomato or openwrt that i can load on it ?

Not sure you did check it right. You didn't tell us what happen if you start router with different SIM or no SIM. Do you still experience hanging?

Anyway, I remember Poynting was selling these routers. Contact them.

I tried no sim, different sim, 30-30-30 hard reset , and no luck.

I could have sad it earlier , but from when the sim menu keeps hanging/crashing,
One of my Female Jacks are not working Anymore so it could be hardware ,but
if it was hardware, than it is time to buy an other router or replace the female jack on it.

4G routers are not on the cheap side for new ones.

I have this exact problem. Everything works in the PC loaded GUI that loads like a page link. Everythng, EXCEPT when I try to click on the sms icon. It then opens a new window and hangs forever. it shows I have 66 messages but I cannot get them to open and now it also shows a flashing icon meaning the sms storage is full. I dont have a phone to just put the sim card in as an alternative

Aside from the warning light, does the full SMS storage impact the router functionality?

Download ZTELink. You can view messages there

I echo that - thanks
Finally an answer to this question that works. Thank you @MissIThinkICanHelp.

The interesting thing is that after i used the ztelink app to delete all but 5 messages in my mtn thread i then tried the sms feature on 192.168. ... and it worked! For how long i do not yet know.

Good day. I have this same problem currently and I cannot view the messages with ZTELink, it doesn’t show any messages but it tells me sms capacity is full.

I struggled to get the ZTELink Android app to detect the ZTE router on my network, since I have a different WiFi AP device and the ZTE router wasn't my default gateway.

So it turned out that I had to set my Android's default gateway to be the ZTE router's IP, and then it detected it and I then managed to delete the SMSes that way.

I have not had to deal with such crappy routers in a long time like this ZTE MF286 that I got with an MTN LTE-Advanced deal...

I've finally been able to fix it. I had been using the ios app. Tried the app on my android and the messages cape up and I could delete them, months after I had damaged the battery .

Is there maybe an address one can type in that takes you straight to delete all messages, and avoids trying to open up the old messages. I have 93, it keeps hanging whether I do it through the app or the web. Can anyone send the string for when you on delete all messages? For example, mine is http://numberdotnumber/index.html#sms (the numberdotnumber represents the network address) so that takes me to smses and it just hangs. What does it show when you select delete all messages?
