Blu while I agree with you that the "apartheid's fault" comment isn't really funny, having watched some parts of last night's speach I honestly think JZ believed he was injecting a bit of humour into an otherwise really boring monologueIf you do not see how insidious that remark was and what kind of consequences it has in a country where the government does NOTHING to unite the citizens, then you're the one needing the help.
What was telling for me though was that he chose to use an old, rather tired excuse for a joke to side-step the question from Miss Mrwetyana rather than addressing the very real problems that she is obviously experiencing.
IMO this speaks volumes about what senior ANC leadership think of the majority of their supporters.
