MTN reduces uncapped mobile broadband pricing

Its the usual problem 24 month contract - most people wont go for that. Also it doesn't really compare to 8ta's offering - although it is "uncapped"

I also want to add stuff like this as a bolt on to my existing contract, so that i can use it on my phone and tether that to me pc. I really dont need another modem and stuff like that.

Good price reduction! Why not make it available on month-to-month without a device?

Great price reduction - well over 50%. Also well below the standard 3GB data bundle pricing - with the added benefit of uncapped at slower speed after reaching 3GB.

They need to remove the term "Uncapped" They have 3G and 10Gig packages, NO UNCAPPED, they are fooling millions of people and of course nothing is done because they already paid the corrupt officials to keep quite for as long as possible, PATHETIC.

It'll be very interesting if this mobile products start overtaking ADSL in pricing - thanks to Telkom.

It is uncapped...they throttle you... not cap you.

Ja but, oom RPM, it's not for free, so the normal whingers will be flaying MTN again.

Did the old, expensive package have similar restrictions? Honestly, I think these packages are a joke.

The two packages will be subject to a fair usage policy of 3GB and 10GB respectively and will be available on a 24-month contract.

Uncapped 128 does sound attractive :D.
30 gb a month

What remains to be seen is if they get the throttling right. If they don't and you're on contract, it will be a long battle to prove that they are in breach and therefore to cancel without penalties.

10GB unthrottled + 1GB throttled.... :P
There is nothing more frustrating than a slow internet connection, how many people are gonna be locked in a 24month contract after the first month they've realised they paying R749 for 10GB...

Nice price reduction. It's a pity they couldn't change the throttle speed to something like 384Kbps or 512Kbps, so it'd become a viable alternative to ADSL.

Yes, very nice price reduction, but a serious abuse of the term "uncapped."

“Once the 3GB and or 10GB fair use limit has been reached, the connection speed will be reduced to 128kbps for the user for the remainder of the month. Users will still be able to access the internet and download content, it will just take a bit longer,” MTN explained.

I take this line as admission from MTN that their 21.1Mbps is a little bit faster than 128kbps. Let's triple that, because a little bit cannot be more than 3 times faster...that is not a "bit", that is a lot more. 384kbps. I have a super fast Android phone on MTN. In Pretoria and South Africa my phone is so slow when online. Put in a Vodacom sim and the thing is 20 times faster! MTN's supposed "SUPER FAST" network is the worst network. And here we have admission. 21.1Mbps is just a bit faster than 128kbps according to MTN.
