Seacom and Eassy downtime: is your ISP affected?

Just shows that Afrihost made a good call to use Seacom as a back up link, yet they have kept their pricing very competitive.

Its a good idea to have both.

Seacom seems to be the one that is the most affected by breaks.... I thought that redundancy links had already been set up ?

Do they not have any idea when this is to be sorted? Most sites I use are down or so slow you can't use them. You would think with all the hype over wacs their would be enough capacity but the Internet is a joke at the moment it was better using my 56K modem.

Does FNB adsl use Seacom? My 1GB free account with afrihost won't last long.

so some dumbass who dropped their anchor where they should not have almost brings the entire east coast of Africa to a grinding halt! Damn!! Dumbass!

I was thinking the same thing, but I guess most ISP's spent so much money on Seacom that by the time WACS launched they didn't have any left. Stupid for a big ISP like Mweb tho. They should have enough money to go around.

Just think what a nice story it will be for him to tell his children when he get's home... "The day I took out the Internet.... "

I was with Mweb up until the end of February and have switched to Internet Solutions as I was constantly having connectivity issue and they always blamed Telkom. Since switching to Internet Solutions I have not had any connectivity issues and fortunately I have not been affected by this Seacom break.

WACS has plenty of capacity available, the ISPs just need to pay for it.

My Axxess account is still running mostly at full speed even on torrents during the day.

Cannot wait to move to Telkom at month end. I don't use a lot of bandwidth and these issues are driving me nuts.

Axxess 10mb uncapped, flying!!!

Cybesmart 10mb uncapped, crawling but it's inconsistent at the best of times so no idea if it is Seacom related.

Nope, FNBConnect is not affected by the seacom issues. Using it as an alt at the moment and it's fast but the latency seems a little higher than mweb.

One cable goes and we all in the KuK???

Just show's how fragile our local Telecoms industry is....
