Vodacom plummets in ISP rankings — now below Telkom and Rain

Analytico’s quarterly customer satisfaction report revealed that Cool Ideas, Afrihost, and Airmobile are the top-rated Internet service providers (ISPs) in South Africa.

On the other end of the scale, Mweb, Cell C, and Vodacom were the service providers who achieved the lowest average customer satisfaction ratings.

How can they be worse than WebAfrica.
When I have to call Vodacom its easy and I can speak to a human. When I need to call WA I contemplate just ending it all. If not for the existence of Eskom, WA would be the lowest on all the companies I use.

So Vodacom sent me a final payment demand with threats about debt collectors etc and I queried it because my account with them was closed ages ago. They call me today - they mass sent out a summons email by mistake and are investigating how this happened.
Anyone else receive this ?

Really appreciate all our clients that chose Afrihost as their ISP. We will continue to do our best to be the best.

One thing I've learnt - don't use these rankings when choosing an ISP.
Have you had a bad experience with one of the top guys?

I would recommend Cool Ideas or Afrihost without hesitation. We use them as service providers and have enjoyed good service levels from them.

+1 and I really think it's just luck of the draw when it comes to the experience you're going to get from an ISP, especially with the big ones since they're servicing so many people.

Yep,

So much of your internet experiences is determined by your non-choice of FNO.

and so much of the FNO's performance depends on the subcontractor they use.

Your choice in ISP matters, but less often than you would expect.

I made the mistake of moving to Afrihost in October - been flat out ignored on multiple platforms, including a direct simple question in response to them on mybroadband - you're welcome to check my PMs - its the last one. Fortunately our neighbours got the issue sorted out via their ISPs. (out of interest, Octotel wouldn't assist me and refered me back to Afrihost - who also did nothing to assist). I'll be leaving Afrihost shortly.

I moved to them from RSAWeb where the experience wasn't much difference, every email I sent after the sale went unresponded unti I went via social media - even emails where I tried to give them money because they didn't invoice me for the month.

One thing I've realised - the smaller ISPs that don't make these lists will usually bend over backwards to help you - and you'll deal with someone fairly competent, not some call center staff reading off a script.

That's the thing - to them you're a number, and how long you have to wait for an issue to be resolved doesn't matter.

For many people - their job literally depends on it. I have no option but fibre, when there's loadshedding in our area, both MTN and Vodacom go down within the hour., so there's no backup (still need to get give Telkom ago, but - local social media groups seem to indiciate the same).

Thanks for sharing.

I agree there are smaller ISPs who are doing great work, especially regarding customer service. I think they will rank highly - the only problem is that they have too few ratings to make the list (not reliable data).
