Hi there

We learned about some campaigning for votes in our PS4 competition. Some people are not happy about this.

Would you agree that it is fair that the mods vote on the best thread in this comp?

Whatever you do, some people are gonna be unhappy. Pick a dude and give him a PS4

Since there's obviously a problem I reckon everyone be disqualified and it gets given to me.

Yea let the mods pick. Or even better, ask everyone that got nominated if they are willing to donate the ps4 to an orphanage. Give it to someone that really needs a bit of ps4 in their lives.

I'm all for the mods voting for the PS4 winner. I voted Mr_Norris, but after seeing the threads on PCF and Systemshock trying to get in supporters I don't think it's entirely fair, it all comes down to who can campaign for the most votes, and not how good the actual thread was.

Yeah. One ps4 with two remotes and a few games in an orphanage filled with kids - there will be blood

Either the mods need to vote, or there needs to be a lucky draw.
Or the rules need to be amended to make it clear whether campaigning for votes is allowed or not.

You deserve the PS4 for your informative thread. I just disagree with the whole campaigning for votes process.

Biometrics campaigned via pm'ing people on here. It wasn't just me ;) Besides that, I didn't start those threads on other forums. But thanks, appreciate the complement :)

No, some mods on myBB are close friends with one of those nominees. Rather use a chaotic RNG to pick a lucky winner.

So what if someone was campaigning for votes. Is that not allowed in the rules? Unless the rules specifically state that no campaigning was allowed, this is a non-issue.

I'd say it makes it unfair. Regardless of it's it explicitly not allowed.

Asking friends to vote for you in online competitions is hardly unique or rare. Everyone does it. If its not against the rules, its not against the rules.

One might say the competition should be based on merit, not popularity.

Then the best method of choosing a winner should not be voting.

I guess if you want to change the rules to suite this then go ahead. But this was not in the rules and is very common in competitions. Im sure the people who didnt think of campaigning are going to be happy with the sudden changes in the rules.
