Campaigning for votes

Maybe allow only members with a certain post count to vote? e.g. 1000 posts and you can vote. At least then votes will hopefully be contained to regular members.

Might give too much of an advantage to someone like biometrics then.

And those members who just lurk and never post? I have been here for a few years and only have a few hundred posts but I read a lot of threads on this forum every day.

Then there's really no point in those of us who are newer here taking part, is there? I mean if it comes down to how many mybb-registered buddies you've got then yeah - I ain't gonna be winning much tbh.
 
Oh please, mr_norris didn't start any campaign! He is a honest and genuine person!

If you read properly, you will see he didn't start those threads - he simply asked his mates to vote for him.
Can any of the higher ranking "thread posters" honestly say they didn't ask a mate to vote for them?

Besides, Getting money back from Uncle Sam is a better post than beer!
You need money to buy beer, I know - I drink beer! :)

If it's going to be up to a vote, campaigning is going to happen. Personally, it doesn't bother me at all, how people get their votes.

I don't mind, one way or the other to be honest.

Bio asked me as well, and as I said to him, I would have happily given him my vote if I hadn't already used it for someone else. It's just a damned online competition, not a vote for the freedom of Zimbabwe.
 
Yes I'm very much for the mods having the final say in who wins the competition. Campaigns and spamming leave a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

Only if cloned accounts are used. New people on mybb is a boon? I would think so.
 
So we enter competitions to help ourselves get something...but it's not really helping anyone...

Give it to someone that needs it...a child care organisation/home for the poor. Geez...

Problem with that is what happens when competitions become popularity contests? Only the popular will enter. I know for sure that if this goes to the popular vote, I'm ( personally ) not going to bother entering next time, because I will never campaign for votes, and so I won't write ( my opinion ) high quality content for myBB again. I strongly feel that this needs to go to a mod decision.
