Gearbest.com - Any good?

I ordered something from gearbest and chose tracked registered mail.

Who delivers the parcel to your house?

I didn't put my PO box address so it won't land at the post office.

It is taken to your nearest post office who then put a collection note in your home's post box. You take the note to the post office to collect.

Take money along, you pay the customs fees at the Post Office as well.

I placed an order with them last week Sunday.
They told me yesterday that there was a problem with my Zip code, that their system wasnt accepting it.
I gave them the code for the area next to me, that apparently worked.
Now my parcel has been repacked and they say it will ship in 24 - 48 hours.

Shipping Priority

I received a parcel from gearbest this week. When I opened the parcel today I noticed that one of the two items was stolen from its packaging. It was sent via registered mail and paid for via Paypal. Do I need to take this up with SAPO or should I just handle this via Gearbest or Paypal?

Handle via paypal.

So its been 72 hours since I was told that my order will be shipped after 24 - 48 hours and my order still hasnt been shipped.

I contacted their live support and they said "Your order has been packed and will be shipped out within 24 hours". Lets see if that is actually correct.

I'm giving it until Monday, if nothing has happened, I'll contact their support again. If I get the run around, I'll open a dispute with Paypal.

Ordered something from them awhile ago, used tracked registered mail.

So far waited 41 days, should be here within 5 more days. The parcel has already left JHB INT MAIL CENTRE (HUB) and reached my local city distribution hub.

Your lucky. Been waiting for them just to ship my parcel. Been 7 days now since the order was placed.
I even paid more for priority shipping.

So I contacted Gearbest again. They still havnt shipped due to my post code.
Ive now given them the postal code of the local post office to try

I have been a regular customer of GearBest since August last year. I have ordered a number of smart phones, action cameras and gadgets from them.
I have never had an issue, but then....I always pay through PayPal for protection, and I only ship by DHL expedited with insurance. Yes, DHL is expensive, but you get your parcel within a few days. Going through SA Post Office is far too much of a risk of items getting stolen.

My last order through GearBest was made last week Thursday. I bought a new all aluminium SSD touch screen Cube Thinker i35 laptop. DHL picked it up late on Saturday night. It arrived here at my gate (I live in a remote part of KZN) yesterday (Tuesday) morning. So, from the time DHL picked it up, it took 2 1/2 days. I prepaid the customs duties, so it got cleared almost immediately after it arrived.

With all of my purchases from Gearbest (about 8 or 9), I noticed they always take about 3 days after payment before they ship - I don't know if this is standard....to first see that the funds are in their account, or what the reason is.

I think they do this when there's a delay in them getting stock, it's sort of a way of shifting the blame. I've got 2 accounts that I use on Gearbest, a couple weeks ago I had 2 different orders at roughly the same time, the one shipped without a problem the other came back with the post code issue.

Okay, so my last experience:
Ordered on 10 Jul, paid with Paypal. Received today.
My package hit Aramex on the 13th.
Was in Johannesburg on the 14th.
Cleared customs on 18th.
I phoned them on the 20th because I hadn't received an invoice from Aramex. Paid the same day.
Driver couldnt find house on the 21st.
Wife just received the package after directing the Aramex driver to my house.

Gearbest had the best prices for the items I was looking for, Aramex was okay, but I'm sure it could have gone faster. Customs only charged VAT.

Overall happy with the process, will use Gearbest and insured Aramex shipping.

Ordered some stuff from Gearbest and paid using Paypal. Shipping method: Middle East Express. The order was shipped within two days, although they split my order into two shipments. I ordered on the 7th of July and the first was delivered on the 17th of July and the second on the 20th of July. The second item was held up because SARS decided to have a peek in the box. Aramex handled the delivery in SA and I paid nothing extra. There was a hold on my second shipment because there was a payment due but when I phoned to get the invoice they (Aramex) said the parcel will be released because it is a "low value shipment".

All in all really happy with them. All the items were correct and exactly what I ordered.

Had basically the same experience. Gearbest was awesome, but had to call Aramex myself as well (after no communication from them at all) and it took them a while to locate and send my invoice. Once invoice was located and paid (their customs fees seemed a bit high), all went smoothly from there.

Aramex used to charge handling fee on every parcel which inflated cost. Someone must have taken them to task as my last few orders have not had the additional r260 charge as item was not stopped by customs

The fees I paid on a shipment of $66 including shipping and insurance.
Clearance 50.00
Disbursement 3.79
Customs VAT 140.28

In old days. Few months back you would have also paid a aramex handling fee if r260 plus vat which would inflate pricing dramatically. Glad charge is removed

Just ordered a OnePlus 5 from them with a few covers. Fingers crossed.

Hey everybody,

I am working very close with GearBest and offering free assistance with orders, items and customs clearance. If anybody needs feedback, or assistance, they can message me and I can assist.

I only ask that if you want to order something, please contact me with the links so I can update them. GearBest will send me more and more items as new and more people order. I will then review the items and give then away in SA. For FREE!!! Items already confirmed for next month as giveaway sponsored from GearBest. Do also check out my other threads on which shipping option to select, how to do customs, etc. Link is below. :D
