I guess I'm the only one so far because I've not seen it mentioned yet, but my 3gig Telkom account has been capped after I used 2.4gig.
I've been on the phone with various Telkom departments for more than 2 hours today. No joy.
So much for me saying Telkom's not that bad

The same thing has happened to a friend of mine... Hard Capped on 2.6gb - but Telkom claims he has done 22gb on the line... Yes, but that was last month! :)

The consultants agree that I've used 2.4 but they can't see the problem.

zeb, keep us updated.

I suspected something was funny when I got capped on my TelkomInternet account this month and couldn't access Telkom.co.za.

Also maybe a dumb Telkom techie did the same average 2Gb usage cap job for both the 2Gb and 3Gb accounts instead of just the 2Gb accounts.

heres a good question: Why are you using Telkom as your ISP?
He's probably hoping to be a leecher like the lot of you i.e. getting 30 Gigs out of a 3 Gig account :)

Why not avoid all the uncertainty, stop supporting the monster that is telkom, sign up for a 3gig/30 account with either openweb or cheetah or somewhere similar @ around 220 bucks a month?

Then you can leech at least 100 gigs a month, depending on line speed, and as long as IS keeps local uncapped, without all this hassle??

I'm sure Telkom is lucky that the ADSL community dont have the lately-in-fashion Muslim mind set...we would've burnt down their head office if it was so. Dammit!! SNO must just speed their work up.

because then you can d/l many GB's, as demonstrated in the last few months.

dah!

wow, you voicing an opinion in suppport of telkom? who'd've thought :-P

Update: This morning the account in question is working again. Will see if I make it to 3gig, but I don't like downloading just for the sake of it. I'll keep you up to date.

IMHO Telkomsa is the worst run ISP in the country. They seem to randomly cap based on some random "system". I'm guessing they decide who to cap by picking a random letter and capping all there customers whose name starts with that letter.
Of course when you have unlimmited access to bandwidth you can do wtf you want.

And yet i would estimate that at least half the users of this forum have at least one telkom account(if not more....).

Which seems strange to me, considering that the isp market is the one telecommuntications sector where there is some real competition nowadays, 'relaxed capping' or not.

Perhaps you should say SOME competition and leave it at that.

Anyway as far as I'm concerned the reasons for using telkomsa are obvious i.e being able to use as much as 60 gigs for the price of a 3 gig account.

That being said if they are now going to start capping at 6 gigs, as they did to my account this month, Im going to get an account with Openweb who in my oppinion is the only reseller with the creativity to offer Telkomsa any REAL competition.
