10 Mbps ADSL by 2011

OK, the rest of the world have an average speed of 10mbit.
We will have it by 2011.

10mbps with 3GB cap --yay

My thoughts exactly.

Not all that exciting with a 3Gig cap tho.

September pointed out that simplicity of use – plug and play broadband in a box – forms an integral part of the company’s strategy to improve its broadband offerings.

For goodness sake!! Is this Telkom being a "pioneer of technology" again? WTF??? If this is how they will strategize in the face of competition then it's bye-bye Telkom. Nothing new here

We should have had 10Mbits already! They should be going for 24+Mbits by 2009, and 2011 should be going for 48+Mbits. Telkom has no vision, and refuse to even pretend that they offer a service.

I olg age home had been without telephones for 2 weeks, because Telkom apparently doesn't have "budget" left to fix the broken line. Nice one Telkom. No budget indeed.

this is a joke. our normal adsl is already up to 8mbps, but telkom cut it down to 4mbps. i agree with the other comment - we should be looking towards 24mbps now. even african countries are better than us.

So we'll be where the rest of the world is now in 2011. Great. Actually the rest of the the world is in many cases past 10Mbps. Telkom: Bringing you yesterday's technology tomorrow.

Seacom will be fully operational by June/July 2009. I doubt we'll still be at 3gig a month after that.

Geez, thanks Telkom. You are a world saver!
Now, warm up the oven to 250 degrees and stick your head in it.
Cooking time: until 2011

Forget Africa. If you can leave, you should. It's nothing but empty promises, corruption, stupidity and more stupidity. Sell your stuff and move to a country where they have some brains running the show.

Very true man, shouldnt be fighting for something like internet access in this day and age.

I have no words! They need 4 years to upgrade to a pathetic 10Mbps?
Come along boys, come along.

I think by 2011 we will see quite an uptake and broad scale penetration internationally of Fibre-to-Home connections probably.

The funny thing would be if Telkom didnt really exist in the ADSL market (or any market really) by 2011 :D

I wonder what the going to up the 'average' cap to? With 10Mbits you need atleast 30Gb Cap

By 2011 - hahaha. They can't even get 4Mbs right now! By 2011 people will be communicating at light speed and there will be colonies on Mars already!
