I thought I had been having ADSL ISP problems. Internet has been crawling along or not responding at all and I saw no posts complaining about it so I was checking out my router. All's well with line connection etc. but I discovered that if I turn off the wifi on the router, everything is suddenly fine. As soon as I turn it on, my connection drops off to snail's pace or becomes unresponsive. At least that's what I think is happening. Seems pretty reproducible. Everything was fine and now suddenly this. Wtf?

@Flanders - mine is a different model - I had issues with my D-Link DSL-2740U until I changed the power adapter. Worked fine for 5 years and then spurious errors. If else fails, give it a try

Hi guys,

Well the flash worked but it didn't fix the problem. What a random load of shyte. Been working 100% and now wifi kills my entire connection.

Sounds like a rogue device on the WiFi. Change the password and reconnect the devices one by one, see which one is at fault.

Had the same thing, turned out to be facebook on one of the phones, it kept re-uploading pictures.

Yep ,check google pictures, dropbox etc, as wel as Whatsapp backups. Had the same problem, disable all that crap on your phone ,enable it again tonight before you go to bed.

I had one of these routers for a little bit - wifi was shockingly bad.

Returned it and got an Asus instead and have had no issues.

Update: Seems that it isn't my router. I have a Z4 tablet running and another samsung phone working fine on wifi but as soon as my xperia z1 phone connects the problems start. I have no idea what could have happened as I'm not aware of an android update and I haven't changed any settings. The weird thing is that it appears to bottleneck the connection and then completely kill it. Chrome on my pc slows down (loading content) and then eventually comes up with an error telling me I'm offline (no internet connection). Seems like a conflict?

Problem solved. It was google backup shoving data upstream. What threw me was that it didn't only bottleneck my connection but it actually gave me offline errors.

Yeah always checks for Google + uploading images by default ;)
